Ballarat Betting Strategy Type

It isn’t too difficult to develop a betting strategy for Ballarat races, but if you don’t have the time, you’ll be pleased to know that OnlyRacing does a lot of the heavy lifting for you. Not only will you find Ballarat race tips for today with us, but we walk you through all the recommended bet types for the day.

The bet types form a major part of your betting strategy and there are many to choose from. On this page, however, we are going to talk about three in particular that we think might interest you and you can find more details here in this section.

Daily Double

You’ll probably see a lot of Ballarat best bets that involve the Daily Double because it is a bet type that can really keep the suspense going. With the Daily Double, you have to pick the winner of back-to-back races on the card at Ballarat.

If you’ve successfully picked the winner of the first race, then the suspense builds as you wait to see if you’ve managed to pick the winner of the second race. The odds and therefore potential payout for the Daily Double will depend on the odds of the runner you have chosen in your bet.

Place Bet

The Place Bet is one of the simpler bets going around and is perfect for beginners or bettors who like a particular runner in a race but aren’t sure if it is going to win. Many tips for Ballarat will focus on the Place Bet because there is added protection in the bet type.

To be successful with this bet type, the horse you tipped needs to finish top three in the race (as long as there are eight runners in the race, if there are less than eight, then your runner needs to finish in the top two). The odds for the Place Bet aren’t as high as the Win, but you have more chances of being successful.

Quadrella

If exotic tips are more your style, then you’ve probably already heard of a Quadrella (or a Quaddie as it is more commonly known). The payout potential is huge for a Quaddie and this is why you’ll see so many Ballarat Quaddie tips.

Ballarat races today tips that feature a Quaddie must include tips for who will win four consecutive races at the track. If you want, you can include more than four runners in your bet and this will increase your chances of landing a Quaddie (and the nice payday that comes with it).

Ballarat Racecourse History

The Ballarat Turf Club was first formed in 1853 and racing was transferred to the current site in the late 1950s. In 1875, the Victorian Amateur Turf Club ran the first race meetings at Dowling Forest, however, they transferred their race meetings to Caulfield Racecourse.

The biggest race of the year, the Ballarat Cup, was first held in 1864 and each year we always see heaps of tips for Ballarat races today on this epic day. In 1895, less than a week out from the Ballarat Cup, the grandstand and all occupying buildings were destroyed by fire. Canvas shelters were set up and this allowed for the meeting to go ahead.

In 1962, the Ballarat Miner Race Club merged with the Ballarat Turf Club. The old Ballarat Miner Race Club became the site of the Ballarat Harness Racing Club and now hosts harness racing action. The course proper got some much-needed TLC in the late 1990s and the final stage of the reconstruction was finished in 1999.

Ballarat Racecourse Race Distance Guide

When looking at Ballarat racing tips for today, those tips must consider the race distance. The race distance dictates where the race starts from on the track and therefore influences how important barriers are.

We go through all the main race distances at Ballarat Racecourse and provide a short guide on each of them:

Guide:Guide:
1,000mAt the shortest distance, runners start up near the back of a long chute and have a reasonable amount of straight before being fed onto the course proper and the first turn. Barriers do have some influence here.
1,200mAt 1,200m runners start in the same chute as the 1,000m race distance, just an additional 200m back. There is even more straight in the chute before runners hit the course proper and the final turn.
1,400mAt 1,400m, runners begin on the course proper and have most of the back straight to work things out before the final turn. Barriers don’t really come into play here.
1,500mAt 1,500m, runners start just off the course proper in a chute and have the entire back straight to work with, which is very similar to the 1,400m race. Again, inside barriers lose most of their advantage here
2,200mRunners at this distance have most of the home straight before they have to complete an entire lap of the track. Barriers don’t have a lot of pull in this race, mainly due to the distance.
