Best Tip: Outishka #2 Newcastle R2

Last run, took down Standing Bear (53.5kg) over 950m at Moree (starting price: $1.90). I think that was an impressive win, so I'm backing Outishka to get the win on Friday, especially from barrier 6 with Mitch Stapleford in the saddle. Mitch has a lot of success on board this horse (4-3-1 in 10 starts). Should enjoy the distance as it has 3 wins from 6 starts. Also, likes the track at Newcastle having won 2 of 4 starts. The track conditions should suit as well, it usually has success running on good tracks.

Best Roughie: Mr Assertive #6 Ballarat R6

Resuming on Friday. Has a positive first-up record in its career. I'm a big fan of Mr Assertive in Race 6 at Ballarat on Friday. On April 19, won over 1000m at Seymour, carrying 59kg. That was nice win, so I believe that Mr Assertive can win on Friday as well. Before that, Mr Assertive finished first at Ballarat in a Mdn on April 3, 2024 over 1000m. Likes running at Ballarat, among the dangers for sure. Very good stats when its racing at this 1000m distance. Good odds for an each-way bet.

Stats and Insights

Newcastle is a spacious and flat track with a 400m straight that gives almost all barriers an equal chance to run on.

At Ballarat, runners outside of around the ten suffer at least a length’s advantage due to the uniquely challenging nature of the straight.

The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
