Cranbourne Betting Strategy Types

On the surface, developing a betting strategy based on your Cranbourne races today tips can seem like a difficult task. However, if you break it down, it is actually quite easy. Any horse racing tips you find will likely have a strategy behind them revolving around different bet types.

There are plenty of bet types available to bet on at Cranbourne, but we’re just going to focus on three in particular for this section:

Daily Double

The Daily Double can certainly be a lot of fun to play around with (and a lot more fun if you can land one!). Some Cranbourne tips for today will feature a Daily Double and this involves choosing the winning of two consecutive races on the card at Cranbourne.

Most commonly, you’ll see people try to pick the winner from the first two races on the card for the day. However, if there is a major race on the card, the Daily Double might involve that particular race and also the race either directly before or after it. The payout can be pretty sweet, which is why many look for Cranbourne race tips for today.

Quinella

The Quinella bet is somewhat similar to the Daily Double in the fact that there are two picks to make, except this time you have to make the selection from the same race and not two separate races. The Quinella is another popular option when it comes to Cranbourne horse tips.

For this bet to be successful the two horses you pick have to finish in the top two, in any order, meaning either horse can finish in first or second place. You can also add more than two horses to your bet, to increase your chances of winning.

Quadrella

If you’re looking for the most lucrative bet type, the Quadrella (Quaddie) is certainly the way to go. There are heaps of Cranbourne Quaddie tips due to the massive payout that is available if you can land it.

While the payout potential is huge, it is quite difficult to land because you are required to pick the runner of four pre-nominated races on the card at Cranbourne. Think about how difficult it can be to pick just one winner and now you have to do that four times!

Cranbourne Racecourse History

Cranbourne Racecourse is one of the top tracks in Victoria and is used by many in their lead-up to bigger races during the Spring Racing Carnival, like the Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup. Racing at Cranbourne Racecourse began back in 1867.

The track is currently operated by the Cranbourne Turf Club and it hosts several race meetings every year. Along with the racecourse, Cranbourne is home to one of the biggest training facilities in the country.

The training facility has seen multiple Group One winners, including the likes of Apache Cat, who won a total of eight Group One races. Cranbourne Racecourse isn’t just for thoroughbred horse racing either, with harness racing and greyhound racing also operating here.

Cranbourne Racecourse Race Distance Guide

Cranbourne Racecourse certainly has an interesting track layout which can sometimes have a major influence on how the race plays out. On top of this, barriers can come into play here as well, depending on the race distance, the inside barriers might have a bigger advantage.

We walk you through all the main race distances at Cranbourne Racecourse and provide a guide to what is likely to happen during the race:

Distance:Guide:
1,000mAt the shortest distance, runners start from the course proper and have a long back straight before the first and final turn, which is quite sharp. Inside barriers don’t have much advantage compared to other tracks.
1,200mRaces here start near the course proper, at the start of a long chute. It is 200m back from the 1,000m race, so runners have another 200m of straight to sort themselves out.
1,300mBeginning in the chute, it is another 100m back from the 1,200m, giving runners even more straight before the first and final turn.
1,400mAt 1,400m, runners begin in the same chute as 1,200m and 1,300m, just another 100m back. There is even more straight for runners to sort themselves out.
1,500mBack another 100m in the chute, at 1,500m there’s even more straight before the first and final turn meaning there isn’t much influence over the barriers as each runner should get their fair shot if they are good enough.
1,600mThe last of the races that begins in a chute, which is at 1,600m. Runners have a massive straight before the first and final turn. Inside barriers don’t have a significant advantage due to the length of the straight.
2,050mThings get changed up at this race distance and runners begin on the home straight, with a long sweeping turn to contend with before the back straight and then the sharper turn.
