Friday Racing Tips - Gosford Racecourse 12/01/24

Racing returns to Gosford again this Friday for a belter seven race card and we have $300,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in NSW this Friday as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

BEST BET - #4 - Rockabilly Rebel (BEST BET)
Rockabilly Rebel resumes here off of a 19 week spell for Bjorn Baker and has already been very impressive in his short six run career but I think based off the way he has trialled for his return he is going to be very tough to catch here. He has had two trials for the return with the most recent of which being a very sharp win at Rosehill where he was ridden with a fair bit of intent, I think it translates across for this now.

THE DANGER - #3 - Missouk
Missouk has to rate as a key danger here for the Snowden’s and with McEvoy on he rates very highly here. He was eight weeks between runs when last stepping out over the 1100m at this track a few weeks back and he couldn’t find a run when searching until the 100m mark and once the split came he flew home to place second in an effort that really should have seen him win with clear air. Rates well now.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Monte Kate 
Monte Kate has only had the two career starts but how can you ignore her based off of the way she has run in both of them. Her debut saw her place over the 1100m in very sharp fashion at Canterbury before being three weeks between runs and showing how dynamic she is when stepping out over the true Heavy at Kembla and just being so dominant in winning there. Hard fit third up now and can win again without surprising.

BEST BET - #3 - Community (NEXT BEST)
Community has to check the win off here for Krade Waugh at start number eight I think. He is hard fit fourth up here and comes off of a run at this track last time out when racing over the mile and he was taken back from a wide gate there and just was too far back in the run to be a winning threat but the way he found the line in the last 400m was so impressive when beating all but the winner there. I think out to this trip is ideal now and he should take this out with Latham retaining the ride.

THE DANGER - #9 - Cheval Gris
Cheval Gris continues to improve with each run and I think based off of how he ran last time out for Matt Smith when three weeks between runs he should be strong here under Reece Jones’ steering. He last ran at this track when recovering from an awkward jump and running home very well between runners and with a more economical run he should feature here.

VALUE BET  - #10 - Tell Me Ma
Tell Me Ma ran very well last time out for the Perry camp and now comes here at limit weight under Adkins’ steering and I think can make an impression again. He last stepped out over the 2020m at Beaumont when improving through the run and nearly catching the eventual winner but just not being able to go with him late in an overall strong run. He rates highly here coming off of that and I think back 100m in trip is positive for his run style.

BEST BET - #2 - Oakfield Eagle
Oakfield Eagle was very close to making it two wins in three runs last time out when racing at this track and trip and looking beautiful in the run before being nailed very late in the piece by a horse who looks to be onto bigger things. His win just prior was awesome and I think with Buckley aboard, hard fit he rates highly again here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Ekeler
Ekeler was three weeks between runs for Maher and Eustace when he stepped out at Canterbury over the 1550m third up and after being bumped near the start he steadily recovered throughout the run until eventually leading and fighting hard to win very well. He really looked to relish being ridden forward so if they employ similar tactics here he will be prominent again.

VALUE BET - #5 - Stand Guard (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Stand Guard clocked a very sharp win last time out over the 1500m at The Hawkesbury and I think getting in here at limit weight under Jett Stanley he can feature again. He stepped out at the beginning of December when having to do a bit of work to find the lead and once he got it he never let go to win well. There’s been two horses come out of that race who have since won and I think he will be prominent again here.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse.
