All eyes turn to the Kempsey Cup this Friday, with some of the biggest names in New South Walian racing chasing their piece of racing history.

There are 8 races on the card, each telling their own stroy and it promises to be a fascinating afternoon of racing, with some big names in action.

Hot favourite in the opener is Mr Damage, a horse that has come close on plenty of occasions recently and who looks ready to land a first win here. It has placed in 5 of 6 career runs and surely it has to come good soon, making it one of our best bets of the day.

THE DANGER - Devoted Deputy - $6.50
The list of near misses is even longer for Devoted Deputy, a horse that is trying to win here at the 15th time of asking. Recent form has been quite positive and in this company, it certainly has the credentials to push Mr Damage over the 1km trip.

VALUE BET - Capital Jicinta - $7.50
Debutant Capital Jicinta looks to be ready to rock here and whilst it has nothing for punters to go off, it comes from serious stock and has absolutely nothing to lose - making it a real danger in this market.

BEST BET - Dis Is Heaven - $3.20
Form is often key in a short and sharp race such as this and Dis Is Heaven is bang in nick. Having won well over this distance last time out, backing up some strong placings before that, Dis Is Heaven is the one to beat here and it could be tough to stop. 

THE DANGER - Heir Apparent - $4.00
A similar run of form has been enjoyed by Heir Apparent, who should also be bang in the mix in this one. It is a well travelled 6-year old, with over 30 races on its card and over the 1000m trip at Kempsey, it could be a perfect combination.

VALUE BET - Pixie Hallow - $5.50
Whilst recent form hasn't been anything to write home about, Pixie Hallow is a supremely dangerous horse in this field and it will be looking to run from the front if it can. There are plenty at longer odds with chances and Pixie Hallow looks to be the best of them.

BEST BET - Jack Duggan - $3.20
American flyer Jack Duggan hasn't enjoyed the same consistency this season as it did in the previous campaign but it could be a firm front runner here. Conditions and the trip should suit, the only potential issue is fitness 

THE DANGER - Tinka's Lad - $5.50
Picking up wins of late hasn't been all that easy for Tinka's Lad but it remains a very quick horse, who should relish a return to the 1450m mark. This is an open Kempsey Cup and whilst plenty have chances, Tinka's Lad is one to keep an eye on in the markets.

VALUE BET - Xtra Approval - $7.00
Few horses on the circuit are as mercurial as Xtra Approval but it has the capacity to deliver at any point. It romped home over this distance last time out, suggesting that form is good and if it gets up ahead of steam, it could be tough to stop.
