Recent form from Kaluakoi has been sublime, with two wins from its last three starts and this looks to be a real chance to keep that going. The trip and the ground will suit and Kaluakoi is comfortably one of our best bets of the day.

THE DANGER - Papal Army - $4.00
Kiwi flyer Papal Army hasn't been able to land any big wins of yet but this looks to be the best chance it has had thus far in its career. It hit the post hard last time out over a similar distance and should be better for the experience here.

VALUE BET - Verona Rupes - $5.00
Paddy Payne calls upon Verona Rupes here, a very interesting prospect for connections. This is another horse in form, who is also a bit of an unknown quantity and it is worth keeping an eye on it as the market unfolds.

Consistency has been at the heart of Staunch's performances this season and how connections will be hoping for another strong showing here. It is a horse that always runs on well and the 2500m trip should be ideal here at the Valley. 

THE DANGER - Roaring Engine - $4.60
By contrast, Roaring Engine has been in terrible nick of late and is in this one to try and boost confidence. Whether it can compete here remains to be seen but on stock and past performances, it should be bang in the hunt.

VALUE BET - Karaburan - $5.00
French flyer Karaburan won so impressively last time out and there is seriously high hopes for this horse moving forwards. Conditions will suit, it looks to simply be a question of whether it can compete at this level.

BEST BET - Presser - $3.20
Having come agonisingly close to winning in each of its last three starts, Presser will be the one to beat here. It has the pace to go all the way over 1600m and just needs a bit of luck to turn here at the Valley.

Kiwi flyer The Englishman is going to be bang in the hunt here, despite a couple of slow showings of late. The quicker the ground, the quicker this horse goes and it should relish conditions under foot.

VALUE BET - Play On Words - $14.00
Experienced campaigner Play On Words has a habit of producing a big return when its most needed and it should be bang in the mixer here. Conditions will suit, as will the distance and it looks a touch overpriced.
