Topping the betting here is Candlewick and it is a horse that is being backed to the hilt in this one. It has yet to finish outside the top 2 in either of its two starts and is supremely quick, with the soft ground the only slight worry.

THE DANGER - Joyner - $3.50
A confident win at Canterbury last time out puts Joyner into the mixer in this one and recent signs have been very good. The trip will suit and the ground is no issue, the only query is whether it can chase down Candlewick.

VALUE BET - Valetudo - $6.00
British flyer Valetudo is another horse that would be well backed on another day but it undoubtedly has work to do in this field. It is more than capable over 1400m though and it is one to keep an eye on.

BEST BET - Harry's Bar - $2.30
One win and three placings from 5 starts have ticked all the right boxes for Harry's Bar and this looks to be a great fit as a contest. Soft ground won't phase connections, neither will the distance and a ruthless performance is needed here.

THE DANGER - Raikkonen - $3.90
A very good win at Canterbury last time out puts Raikkonen in the mix for this one but it is a tougher field to contend with here. That said, winning is a habit and Raikkonen is a horse that could rip it up in this one, if given the chance to do so.

VALUE BET - Manwe - $6.50
If it were purely down to talent, Manwe would be bang in the mix for this one but it is a mercurial horse that lacks consistency. That said, if it gets a run, Manwe could be tough to stop over 1250m.

BEST BET - The Replicant - $4.20
It has been a few months since The Replicant was last seen at this level but it is a seriously quick horse, who has a good record at Randwick. It will need to hit the ground running but backing The Replicant looks the smart move in this one.

THE DANGER - All Black - $5.00
Arguably the most interesting horse on the card is All Black, who hasn't raced for over a year but gets the chance to do so here. Two wins prior to a nasty injury are good form indicators but this horse last raced in spring 2023 and is an unknown entity.

VALUE BET - Scopics - $11.00
Another horse that could spring a surprise here is Scopics, who too has been out of action for a while. This is a good runner on its day though and if fit, Scopics could be in the mixer.
