Saturday Racing Tips - Sandown Racecourse 29/04/23

Racing returns to Sandown Hillside for Anniversary Vase Day and there’s a stacked ten race card with a bunch of sprints and some good looking mid distance races, the day should be ultra competitive with a lot of top stables putting forward runners that are mid way into their preps they should be hard fit. The track is rated a good 4 and the rail is out plus three meters, follow me below as I outline my best betting spots on the card!

Sandown R1 - L.U. SIMON BUILDERS HANDICAP (1000m)

Selections:
#3 - Pirnzerro (BEST BET) - $2.60
#4 - Ravalli -  $6.00
#6 - Subsix - $8.50
#7 - Red Dates - $7.00

BEST BET - #3 - Pirnzerro (BEST BET)
Prinzero looks very good to go over first up here for Phillip Stokes. He’s a well bred filly by Pierro that has looked very sharp in a few jumpouts at Pakenham, the most recent of which he led throughout on the synthetic and ran a nice time but he looked to just truck along there, not even really asked for much from the jockey. He draws to find the front in a very winnable race and will take beating.

THE DANGER - #4 - Ravalli
Ravalli is on debut for the Corstens stable and comes into this off some very good Flemington jumpouts where he also looked to just truck along in each of them, the most recent of which he led and won with plenty in hand. He doesn’t draw to find the front but with a ton of early speed he should lob into a good spot behind the speed and if he doesn’t tire from the run he will be dangerous late.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Subsix
Subsix is a colt on debut for the Kennewell stable and he’s had a few Jumpouts to ready him for this where he looked to move very nicely up on the speed even on some hard tracks. The stable is flying with their juveniles and this race looks quite thin on paper, if he can sit behind what looks to be a genuine tempo he will be one of the strongest late.

Sandown R2 - DEXION VICTORIA (BM78) (2400m)

Selections:
#2 - Sing For Peace  - $3.50
#4 - Never Again  - $6.00
#3 - Irish Butterfly (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.50
#7 - Mimi's Award - $14.00

BEST BET - #2 - Sing for Peace - (NEXT BEST)
Sing for Peace has been ever so honest in his seven start career for Patrick payne and looks to be working towards another win. He went out to the 3000m recently with Michael Dee on board and he rode hm a peach when asking for effort mid race to improve towards the front and was outstanding late when he looked to go down but just found a bit more to keep them at bay. There’s stronger competition here but he’s fit, has that winning feeling and looks suited back to the 2400m.

THE DANGER - #4 - Never Again
Never Again is getting up in age but he still looks to be loving racing. He comes into this off the back of a run in the VOBIS Gold Health where he was near last in the run on the turn but came on so strongly late to come second to El Patroness, who had lengths on them. If he maintains that form from last start and doesn’t get too far back in the run he will be in the finish.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Irish Butterfly (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Irish Butterfly has been holding form very well even though he has been up around the mark for a while. He looked very good last time out when winning dominantly at Sandown under Celine Gaudray where he bolted to the lead and was there to be claimed but just had too much on them and kept the field at bay to the line. He strikes a harder race now but has a great racing style and will be prominent throughout the run.

Sandown R7 - MANHARI METALS (BM84) (1000m)

Selections:
#10 - Snapped (NEXT BEST) - $3.70
#3 - Do Ya Punk - $5.00
#9 - Sig Positano - $15.00
#6 - Foxicon - $3.70

BEST BET - #10 - Snapped (NEXT BEST)
Snapped at her best has a few lengths on this field and should come into this ready to fire off the back of a solid first up run off of a two month break down the Flemington straight where she took her time to get going from back in the field but once she did she showed up and motored home into third, clocking some great splits in the process. She’ll be much fitter now and back onto a turning track suits her well to shift out and close the gap in a softer manner.

THE DANGER - #3 - Do Ya Punk
Do Ya Punk has only had the one run since resuming off of a 16 week spell, that came at Bendigo over the 1100m and wow if he can live up to that run he is going to take some serious beating where he came from far off the speed to jet home into third. He has the upside on a lot of these and if they run it fast, which they map to, he will have enough to go over the top of them late.

VALUE BET - #9 - Sig Positano
Sig Positano is another Patrick Payne trained runner resuming today. He does his best work over the 1200-1400m but has a touch of quality about him that could see him go over first up here. The stable is flying with their fresh runners as well so I imagine this will be no different, they should have him in right order to resume. THe three Jumpouts have been very solid, with the latest being ever so soft and in a good time and I think if he turns up on race day he can sneak a placing or even take this out with some luck.

Jockey Of The Day – Jye Mcniel

Jye McNeil is an accomplished jockey, having won several black type races, including the prestigious 2020 Melbourne Cup aboard Twilight Payment. He has also received the Victoria Racing Club's Champion Jockey Award in two consecutive seasons (2019/20 and 2020/21), underscoring his reputation as one of Victoria's finest jockeys. He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Sandown Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

R1 - #2 - El Patroness - $2.45
R3 - #6 - Manhattan Thunder - $12.00
R5 - #4 - Toronto Terrier - $6.10

Multi Tips For Sandown Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #4 - Good And Proper - PLC $2.20
R3 - #4 - She Dances - PLC $1.45
R5 - #9 - Running By- PLC $1.20

Total Odds = $3.82
$50 Stake = $191.40 Return!

Best Promotions for Sandown Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
