Wednesday Racing Tips - Bendigo Racecourse 17/05/23

Racing returns to Bendigo for an exciting eight race metro midweek meeting and there are some nice types going around for the big Victorian stables with a handful on debut and the rest coming back to the races mid way through their preps, some of whom look well placed to go onto metro racing. There’s three maiden races on the card with the rest of the races being in Benchmark grade, the track is rated a soft 5 and the weather looks fine. Follow me below as I outline my best betting spots on the card!

Bendigo R2 - Bet365 Protest Promise (Bm64) (1100m)

Selections:
#13 - Kusini (NEXT BEST)  - $3.70
#2 - Bencoolen - $3.80
#1 - Street Elite - $12.00
#5 - Legio Ten - $6.00

BEST BET - #13 - Kusini (NEXT BEST)
Kusini is having just her third start at the races for the Maher and Eustace camp and has had a flying start to her career. She was well backed in the market on debut at Benalla at the end of March and was honest as ever there when just missing by half a length to place second to a fitter horse. She then went to Pakenham and the writing was on the wall when she duly saluted over the 1200m when she just kept finding the line despite doing a bit wrong. She will be fitter and better for the experience third up now and gets a big jockey upgrade which should see her go well for this.

THE DANGER - #2 - Bencoolen
Bencoolen looks like a very good type for the Price and Kent stable who has had just the one race to date which was back in August last year where he sat on the speed at Donald over the 1204m before angling out and powering away from the field to win by nearly three lengths. That’s the only run to go by and there’s been no public trials for the return but being from the astute stable and based off of the class of that win you would have to think he will have a big showing on his return now.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Street Elite
Street Elite goes up in the weights now after recording two big wins in a row but it would be stupid to discount the R Griffiths & M De Kock product here. Most recently he raced right near the speed and won by a long-neck at Bairnsdale Bm58 over 1200m with 62kg on his back so has proved he can handle the weight, albeit in softer competition. Before then he scored similarly at Kyneton over the same distance. Comes back 100m which shouldn’t pose any issues and will look the winner a long way from the front.

Bendigo R5 - Apiam Animal Health (Bm78) (2200m)

Selections:
#3 - Mystery Island (BEST BET) - $3.90
#1 - Captain Envious - $3.20
#4 - That's Incranibull - $8.00
#2 - French Moon - $3.10

BEST BET - #3 - Mystery Island (BEST BET)
Mystery Island has to be given another chance after not handling the bogged down track in the Warrnambool Cup just under two weeks ago. Prior to then he had been building up nicely towards a win, racing in strong company and coming on strongly in each of her runs, building towards peak fitness. He should be at that now and Olives steps aboard for the ride, I think we see him clock in the long awaited win. Keen.

THE DANGER - #1 - Captain Envious
I also quite like the look of Captain Envious who is taking some time to come through this prep but should be at about peak today and drops massively in class for this. He raced in the Shaftesbury and Easter Cup (both Group three races) before the Pt Adel Cup last time out at Morphettville where he came from way back in the run to work home strongly as the widest runner when never a winning threat. Should be hard fit now and meets the softest competition he has in a long time, watch for him.

VALUE BET  - #4 - That's Incranibull
That’s Incranibull is a Patrick Payne trained horse who comes here off a 49-day let-up and has trialled really nicely for the return. He’s coming back from some strong in town races as well, last time out contending a strong BM70 on the Hillside course at Sandown in late March when finishing midfield and coming on strongly from well back int he run. The race before then he just missed by a head to finish second in a Sale BM78. He should be rock hard fit now off the back of the two trials and short let up and can surprise these.

Bendigo R6 - Sheahan Plumbing (Bm64) (1100m)

Selections:
#9 - Yosemite - $8.00
#8 - Jezoulenko - $5.50
#5 - Niccolite (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $8.50
#11 - Cover Star - $7.00

BEST BET - #9 - Yosemite
A lot of last start winners coming into this but I like the look of Yosemite who loves this track, recording her third win here last time out and also goes very well in the wet and this distance. She draws well for this, maps to sit and box along on the speed and should still have plenty for them in the final sprint. Keen on her prospects here with Mott on and well weighted.

THE DANGER - #8 - Jezoulenko
Jezoulenko resumed at Cranbourne on a bog down track last time out when she came on strongly to the line and was just swamped late by a smart type in Lloyd’s Crown. Her two career wins have come at this trip and should make big improvements second up, if she gets the breaks she will have what it takes to power over the top of these. Big chance.

VALUE BET - #5 - Niccolite (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Niccolite was contesting some strong races before being sent back to the paddock and is generally very strong fresh. She likes a bit of sting out of the ground as well, the Begg stable is flying at the moment and well back in grade here. The jockey is a bit of a query but I think Niccolite has a class edge on these and if she can find the front she will be very hard to hold out.

Multi Tips For Bendigo

I think that we have to tread lightly with a multi on such a competitive day of racing with so many of these horses having been geared for the races on this card. As such, I have given favour to those horses who have drawn good gates, are well weighted and who have top jockeys on as these factors can be all the advantage you need for a win in the circumstances. Best Promotions for Bendigo Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
