Best Tip: Chinqui #2 Mornington R9

Last time out, it had a perfect run and won, looking much fitter. This horse knows how to bring the heat and last time out at Moe, it showed us exactly what he's made of. With Jamie Kah in the saddle, it's a force to be reckoned with and could very well take the win again. Before that, Chinqui finished first at Cranbourne in a Mdn on August 1, 2024, over 1000m. Decent win rate percentage, watch it in the straight. Loves the distance and I hope that continues over the 1000m. Very good career record in second-up situations. In good form at the moment, so hopefully that continues.

Best Roughie: Grenoble #9 Wyong R6

Last race at Tamworth, Grenoble was right up there in the finish, just placing second. He showed some speed and battled on fairly well. In this race, I think it's got another suitable draw, which should make it tough to beat. In its last start, Grenoble (60kg) ended up placing 2nd, just behind Cenotes (61kg) over 2100m and was right up there. That should be a good form guide for this race and I think it could easily get the win this time. Previously, 2nd of 10 at Bathurst BM66 on July 30, 2024, over 1800m. Wyong stats are excellent, having not finished outside the top 3 yet. Rates a terrific each-way play, I think.

Stats and Insights

Mornington is a testing track that is short but sharp, it has an uphill 200m straight. Runners need to be close before the turn to account for this.

The Wyong racecourse is nearly circular, offering runners with more dynamic run styles and those that handle bendy tracks a big advantage, also gives those close to the rail an advantage in sprints.

The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
