Unibet Review

Unibet has become an essential bookmaker in the Australian horseracing scene. The emphasis placed on seamless functionality and an appealing product has successfully worked in infiltrating the already saturated market of Australian bookies.

This Unibet review takes a deep dive into all aspects of Unibet Australia from the ease of placing bets to the markets themselves. Although founded in 1997 by Anders Strom, Unibet didn’t enter the Australian market until its acquisition of BetChoice in 2012. Since then, Unibet Australia has found themselves to be a popular choice amongst Aussie punters for horseracing.

The competitive odds and wide variety of racing markets has elevated Unibet to the industry standard. These features are offered on an easy-to-use free mobile app on both android and apple devices. Along with this, Unibet Australia has top-notch products in the form of betting blogs that include in-depth picks and predictions. These features and products are tailor-made for a community focused and information dependent bookmaker that I reckon has a lot of upsides to offer.

Unibet offers a wide range of betting markets on Australian horse racing, and they are also one of the few bookmakers to offer live streaming for races. Unibet has a strong focus on customer satisfaction and offering the best punting experience.

Unibet is a safe and secure bookmaker, and they are regulated by the Australian Government. Unibet is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable and user-friendly betting site.

Unibet offers several deposit options such as Paypal, Apple Pay and other popular eWallets. Although the customer service aspect of Unibet leaves a lot to be desired, the experience of using Unibet Australia succeeds in its aim of creating a streamlined and functional platform focused on user engagement.

Unibet Score

🐴Betting Markets – 8/10
Unibet Australia offers the standard racing betting markets. From fixed win/place and best tote single bets to your usual exotics (exacts, quinella, trifecta & first four), Unibet Australia provides the same critical markets as its competitors. However, Unibet lacks a Same Race Multi feature which hinders its score.

💳Banking Options – 10/10
Unibet has several options for depositing and withdrawing to satisfy most every punter’s banking choice. Whilst credit/debit card and direct bank deposits make up majority of customer’s needs, eWallets, POLi, Paypal and Apple Pay are also offered.

📱Mobile Experience – 6/10
The Unibet mobile app covers the basic needs of an Australia bookmaker without being exceptional. The mobile experience leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion though. There is visible lag when changing between pages, and the functionality of the app is not up to par with Unibet competitors in Australian horse racing.

💸Withdraw Speed – 7/10
Unibet has average pay-out speed. Bank transfers take the standard 1-3 business days whilst credit/debit card withdrawals take a bit longer in the range of 3-5 working days. Customers using new eWallets such as NETELLER and Skrill can receive their withdrawals within 12 hours.

🧩Overall User Experience – 7/10
The betting experience with Unibet Australia is enjoyable without being spectacular. Placing bets is easy and the race pages are simple to understand. In my opinion though, there are key competitors that offer a better product.

📧Customer Support – 8/10
The customer service system offered at Unibet is quite extensive but can be improved. There are options for both calling and emailing enquiries to the customer support team that I have found to be very accommodating and friendly. Live chat is also a feature of Unibet; however this avenue of assistance is only available from 9am – 2pm.

🔒Security – 10/10
Unibet Australia is licensed by the Northern Territory Racing Commission and follows Australian Government regulations. You should rest easy knowing Unibet looks at your information and privacy as a major priority.

Unibet Racing

Unibet has a strong presence in the Australian horse racing industry, with a dedicated horse racing website and app. As such, Unibet Australia offers several features that make it a popular choice for horse racing fans. These include but are not limited to live streaming, race replays, and expert tips. Unibet also offers a few promotions and bonuses for horse racing fans, making it an attractive option for those looking to bet on the action.

Unibet Australia has a huge selection of racing markets available for punters to choose from. Unibet offers bets on all the major horse racing events in Australia, including the Melbourne Cup, the Cox Plate, and the Caulfield Cup. In addition, Unibet also offers markets on international races such as the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Dubai World Cup. With so many options available, Unibet is the perfect place for punters looking to get involved in horse racing betting.

These events come with a plethora of options to punt on. Standard tote and fixed win/place bets are always popular, but a large amount of money is poured into the exotics markets which combine multiple runners into a bet, so you won’t have to choose between the horses you like!

From the Unibet Australia home screen, there is a list of the ‘next to go’ races that displays the upcoming races that are about to jump. From here, you can navigate into any of these ‘next to go’ racing pages and place your punts. Alternatively, clicking on the ‘racing’ tab will present an extensive list of upcoming cards and future featured races such as the Cox Plate.

Unibet Mobile App

Unibet Australia debuted its Android and Apple betting apps in 2019, with over 100,000 downloads so far. The app has a pleasant interface where you can access everything on the main page.

With the Unibet app, you can see all the upcoming races on the home screen with easy navigability to the individual racing pages. There is a dedicated area for promotions where Unibet Australia provides enticing offers for Australian horse racing.

The Unibet app also makes depositing and withdrawing simple, as well as verifying your account. Although there are several top-notch betting apps available, I believe the Unibet app at the very least matches up to some of them due to the sheer emphasis placed on the Australian horse racing markets.

In my opinion, Unibet is an above average app and warrants a serious look from avid Australian punters, especially horse racing fans.

Unibet Products & Features

Unibet, like most large Australian bookmakers, has several premium features that are exclusive and separate themselves. These features and products really add to the Unibet experience and make it unique. Here are a few Unibet features that I believe punters should be aware of:

The Vault

Unibet’s Vault is a concentrated location on the site or app that shows all your daily racing rewards. Depending on your activity and action size on bets, unique rewards will be available to you. Make sure you aren’t missing out on The Vault when using Unibet.

Smart Punter

Unibet has their own blog with daily updates and a plethora of useful tips and information to boost your knowledge and experience. This blog is called Smart Punter and it is regularly updated with forms, analysis, and much more. I think this is one of the more valuable features on Australian bookmakers so you should check it out!

Jockey Special

Unibet publishes daily jockey specials which allow you to back your favourite jockey to win on multiple different runners.

Betshare

Last year Unibet Australia launched their Betshare feature which I reckon is awesome for the everyday punter who loves to share their slips with mates. Betshare is a tool that allows Unibet customers to modify the appearance of their bet slip with the idea of sharing it on social media or with other punters. As social Australian horse race betting goes, this feature is awesome to use and allows for a better punting experience with a better sense of connectedness.

The Live Yard

The Live Yard is a new feature Unibet Australia has just implemented. It’s usually available 2-6 minutes before the jump and provides picks and analysis for the field of runners. Additionally, there is a live scoring system that has a sliding rank from 0-100; 0-54 is red, 55-74 is orange, and 75-100 is green.

Uplift

Unibet Australia offers Uplift, an enhanced odds racing product that is applied to certain big races that will provide boosted prices on any runner in the field.

Live Streaming

Unibet Australia provides a live streaming service for select tracks and races. This is just awesome for punt, being able to place your bet then watch it all in one place.

Unibet Betting Markets

Unibet Australia offers several markets and features that make it an exciting bookmaker to use for Aussie punter. Here are some of the markets you can bet on:

  • Unibet offers competitive fixed odds markets for Australian horse racing.
  • Unibet Australia have lots to offer in exotic betting department. You can place bets on a range of exotics from quinellas to first fours.
  • Alongside the offered exotics, there is an exotic creator that allows you to build an exotic bet on the race page in a fun and creative manner.

Unibet’s Australian horse racing markets are deep and easy to place. As such, when it comes to placing your bets, Unibet is a great option and should be considered by Aussies punters.

Unibet is an international bookmaker founded in 1997 by Anders Strom that provides a platform for online poker, sports and racing betting, and an online casino. There are over 11 million customers hailing from over 100 countries.

Unibet Australia is a subsidiary of Unibet that is part of the Kindred Group. In 2012 BetChoice was purchased by Unibet and rebranded as Unibet Australia. The Australian Bookmaker is one of the largest gambling companies in the country and offers a competitive online sports and racing betting experience.

Does Unibet have a mobile app?

Most punters nowadays, including myself, prefer to use their phones, so a good mobile betting app is essential. Being one of Australia's largest bookmakers, Unibet understands the value of a solid mobile app and has created the Unibet app to fit the needs of Aussie punters. The Unibet app is available for both Apple and Android devices, making it easy to place bets on the go.

The Unibet app is jam-packed with features, including live racing, live betting, and a massive variety of racing markets and promotions. The best part is that it is completely free to download and use. With the Unibet app, you can enjoy all of Unibet's greatest features from wherever you are.

To install the Unibet app on your iPhone or iPad, simply head to the App Store and search for ‘Unibet’. For Android devices, you can find the app by searching Unibet on the Google Play Store. Once you've installed the app, you'll need to create an account and deposit funds before you can start betting. Unibet offers a wide range of deposit options, so you're sure to find one that suits you.

Who is Unibet owned by?

Unibet Australia is a subsidiary of the Kindred Group, one of the leading online gambling companies in the world. The group is based in London and is traded on the Nasdaq Stockholm Exchange. Unibet was founded in 1997 and has since grown to become one of the world's largest betting sites, with over 10 million customers in over 100 countries.

Unibet Australia, the company's first dedicated Australian betting site, was launched in 2012. The NT Government licences and regulates the site, which provides a secure and safe environment for Australian punters to place bets.

Unibet is committed to responsible gambling and has a number of features in place to help punters stay in control of their spending. The company also offers a dedicated customer support team who are available 24/7 to help with any queries or issues.

How long does a Unibet withdrawal take?

Unlike some other bookmakers, Unibet offers a variety of withdrawal options such as:

  • Bank Transfer withdrawal (Time: 1-5 days)
  • VISA Card withdrawal (Time: 1-3 banking days)
  • PayPal withdrawal (Time: 1-12 hours)

Bank Transfer withdrawals at Unibet are processed within 1 business day of receiving a withdrawal request. Check your Unibet account history to see if your withdrawal has already been handled. Your bank verification may still be pending, you can check its progress via the Verify Account menu.

Once your bank transfer withdrawal has been processed, it can appear in your account as soon as 1 business day or may take up to 3 business days.

If you have a VISA debit/credit card and have used it to fund your Unibet account, you are able to use the Card withdrawal option, which is slighter quicker than Bank Transfer.

If you’ve previously deposited into your Unibet account with PayPal, then you can also request a PayPal withdrawal which takes less than 12 hours to receive your money.

Does Unibet offer cash out?

Unibet does offer a 'Cash Out' function on both its website and mobile betting apps; when available, the Cash Out feature enables you to cash out your wager before the outcome is determined, allowing you to lock in a portion of your profits or limit any possible losses.

Unibet will always show you if the bet you are placing is Cash Out eligible or not by displaying the Cash Out symbol on the bet slip. In other words, if you see the Cash Out symbol on the bet slip, it indicates the bet you've selected will be eligible for Cash Out after placing.

After placing your bets, you can access the Cash Out feature by selecting the "My Open Bets" tab on the event page. Once you have chosen to cash out, your bet will be settled at the price shown and you will receive the return in your account instantly.

How do you verify your account on Unibet?

The same as all Australian betting sites, you have 14 days to validate your Unibet account before you are unable to place any further bets. Australian betting regulation stipulates that all Australian betting sites must comply with this.

If you do not verify your Unibet account within this time, don't panic; you may still log in to the Unibet website or the Unibet app and validate your account at a later date. Please note that your Unibet account must be fully verified before you are able to withdraw any wins.

Complete the following steps to verify your Unibet account:

Unibet Customer Support

Having now spent months using Unibet Australia to learn its ins and outs to find the best methods of use as well as its best features, I have inevitably been in contact with Unibet’s customer support team to ask questions about the platform.

In my experience, I have found that enquiring through phone call or email yields a detailed and helpful response. However, the solution provided does not come immediately which limits the effectiveness of certain advice that is time sensitive. Unibet’s competitors have employed a live chat feature to combat this time delay which has proved essential to many bookmakers’ customer support product. Unibet has also implemented a live chat to their platform, although this is only available from 9am – 2pm, greatly restricting its effectiveness.

The customer support at Unibet is satisfactory thanks in large part to the live chat feature offered from 9am – 2pm. If Unibet Australia wants to remain on the level of its competition, live chat should be offered 24/7.

Unibet Odds & Margins

Margins are effectively the perceived amount that a bookmaker is making on every bet they accept. As such, the margin is a reflection on the odds of that bookmaker. For example. if a bookmakers’ margin is 120%, for every $1 bet the bookie accepts, it takes $0.2.

Below I have compared Unibet's odds and margin to Sportsbet and TAB 1 hour before the jump, and 5 minutes before the jump:

Race 1 - Ballarat Synthetic R1 31/10/2022

1 Hour Before Jump:

  • Unibet - 125.9%
  • TAB - 127%
  • Sportsbet -126.8%

5 Minutes Before Jump:

  • Unibet - 121.9%
  • TAB - 126.2%
  • Sportsbet - 124.9%

Race 2 - Ballarat Synthetic R1 31/10/2022

1 Hour Before Jump:

  • Unibet - 126.2%
  • TAB - 128.1%
  • Sportsbet 125.1%

5 Minutes Before Jump

  • Unibet - 120.1%
  • TAB - 124%
  • Sportsbet - 122%
