Best Bets of the Day

Follow along with me for the best free horse racing tips on race day! Thursday's racing action takes us to Hawkesbury and Sale and I have found a best bet for you at betting sites in Australia. There's also a juicy roughie to get on board. I'm heading to Hawkesbury for my best bet of the day in Race 7. Meanwhile, my roughie of the day is Bold Print at Sale in Race 6. The track conditions at Hawkesbury are looking good for racing, the track is a good 4 at this stage. At Sale, the track is rated a soft 6 at this stage so look for runners that like to run on a soft track. Let's get into it!

Best Tip: Williamsburg #5 Hawkesbury R7

In its last race on August 3 at Rosehill, he surged to the front, winning by 0.8 lengths. He carried 56kg and managed to beat Estadio Mestalla (54kg), which was quite impressive, especially at $7.50 odds. So, it's definitely in top form right now. Before that, Williamsburg finished first at Rosehill in a Barrier Trial-Open on July 23, 2024, over 1000m. Rates a terrific each-way play, I think.

Best Roughie: Bold Print #6 Sale R6

In its latest run at Pakenham Synthetic BM70 on August 5, it held his ground and snagged 4th place out of 7, not too bad. Previously, 1st of 10 at Pakenham Synthetic BM64 on July 18, 2024 over 1000m. Good stats at the distance too, bodes well for Thursday. Likes running first-up.

Stats and Insights

  • Hawkesbury Racecourse is known to have a very real home track advantage and pro punters have affirmed that there are certain runners that irrespective of their form at other tracks, if they perform historically at Hawkesbury then that form is likely genuine.
  • When racing at Sale Racecourse specifically out of the 1000m and 1200m chutes the course features a long straight followed by a large sweeping turn which means runners that draw outside of barrier 10 are disadvantaged by at least a length.
  • The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
