Check out the best free horse racing tips and best bets for Wednesday's racing at Sandown and Canterbury. I like the look of Fretta at Sandown in Race 6. Also, for my roughie bet, I've got my eye on Yendy in Race 4 at Canterbury. The track conditions at Sandown are looking good for racing At Canterbury on Wednesday, the track is rated a soft 7 at this stage so should be decent conditions for racing. Let's get into it!

Best Tip: Fretta #3 Sandown R6

Last race at Sandown-Hillside, Fretta was right up there in the finish, just placing second. He showed some speed and battled on fairly well. In this race, I think it's got another suitable draw, which should make it tough to beat. In its last start, Fretta (55kg) ended up placing 2nd, just behind Zoltan (58kg) over 1500m, and was right up there. That should be a good form guide for this race and I think it could easily get the win this time. Previously, 4th of 7 at Moonee Valley BM70 on January 27, 2024 over 2040m. Sandown stats are excellent, having not finished outside the top 3 yet. Loves the distance and I hope that continues over the 1600m. Has enjoyed success in wet conditions and the track conditions should be suitable. Should enjoy running first-up as has been the case in its career. In winning form, don't look past it.

Best Roughie: Yendy #2 Canterbury R4

In its last race at Hawkesbury on July 21, it came out on top with a winning margin of 0.2 lengths. It was carrying 56.5kg and held off Titan Star (55kg), which was pretty good to watch at $4.20 odds. So, it's looking in good touch for this race. Before that, Yendy finished first at Newcastle in a BM64 on June 29, 2024, over 1200m. Should enjoy the distance (1100m).

Stats and Insights

  • Canterbury is a much tighter track than most NSW courses, giving significant advantage to close on pacers and those close to the rail in general. It also favours late rails-in-run horses due to the tight turning nature.
  • The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
  • Canterbury Race 4 - Yendy has a 42% win rate and a 57% place rate.

Best Racing Promotions

Horse racing promotions and offers are great for boosting your betting profits so I always recommend looking out for them. Aussie betting sites roll out some unique promotions during the racing season, especially during the Spring Carnival. One of my personal favourites is BetRoyale, which offers same race multi for Thoroughbred racing and other features. Such as mystery bets, blended bets, and first past-the-post payouts. Also, I’ve noticed they can offer higher odds for roughies, which is always nice.

Betting sites and their promos often change, especially around major races or events like the Melbourne Cup or AFL Finals series. Head over to betroyale.com.au to see what's currently on offer. I think you'll find it worthwhile.

During this busy week of racing, I highly recommend BetRoyale. They offer a wide range of betting features, so you can get some of the best odds for racing across Australia. Plus, BetRoyale provides solid racing markets and bet types for racing in Australia or overseas.
