Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets 18/09/24

Follow along with me for the best free horse racing tips on race day! Wednesday's racing action takes us to Canterbury and Sandown and I have found a best bet for you at betting sites in Australia. There's also a juicy roughie to get on board. I'm heading to Canterbury for my best bet of the day in Race 3. Meanwhile, my roughie of the day is Not Surprised at Sandown in Race 5. The track at Canterbury is looking in good condition, it's rated a good 4 for race day on Wednesday. The track conditions at Sandown are looking good for racing but look out for some rain on the radar. Let's get into it!

Best Tip: Need Some Luck #3 Canterbury R3

I like the look of Need Some Luck in Race 3 at Canterbury on Wednesday. Previously won at Randwick over 1050m. That was a really good win, so I think Need Some Luck should be tough to beat on Wednesday too. Before that, Need Some Luck finished first at Randwick in a Barrier Trial-Open on August 30, 2024, over 740m. Very positive top 3 record as well. Has enjoyed plenty of success at Canterbury with a 100% record of finishing in the top three. Very good stats when it's racing at this 1250m distance. Likes running in good conditions. Has had success when running first-up, with a win and a second in 3 starts.

Stats and Insights

Canterbury is a much tighter track than most NSW courses, giving significant advantage to close on pacers and those close to the rail in general. It also favours late rails-in-run horses due to the tight turning nature.

There is a chance of rain at Sandown on Wednesday so the track conditions may change. Keep that in mind.

The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
