Having hit the post very hard in its last couple of outings, Weekend Lover looks to be the one to beat here at Pakenham. The 2550m trip should be ideal and finally getting a first win will be the key objective.

THE DANGER - Van Gerwyn - $5.00
Kiwi trooper Van Gerwyn will be a serious contender here, especially over the lengthy 2.5km trip. It came close over 2200m at Hamilton in its last outing and it looked as if it had more in the tank on that occasion.

VALUE BET - Plastic Dreams - $5.50
A similar tale could be told of Plastic Dreams, who also placed on its last outing and this is in similar company. Admittedly, this does look a bit tougher but this is a horse firmly in form and it could contend.

BEST BET - Malletier - $2.50
A very good win last time out will give Malletier plenty of confidence in the build up to this one and it is certainly the in-form pick in this field. Speed will be key and Malletier should have more than enough in the tank here.

THE DANGER - Melidesh - $5.00
Having not been seen for the best part of 5 months, Melidesh is a bit of punt here but it is a horse that has the potential to be bang in the mix. It will need to hit the ground running on its return but it has pace to burn.

VALUE BET - I Am Victorious - $7.50
I Am Victorious will be looking to live up to its name in this one, as it looks to build on a very good win at Mornington last time out. This is a very similar contest and it looks a good price to compete.
