Epimeles is first-up on Saturday. Has a positive first-up record in its career. John Allen was on board for its last run and won over 1400m at Flemington. So I think that's a good form guide for Saturday's race and should be tough to beat down the straight. Before that, Epimeles finished first at Sandown-Lakeside in an Open on March 27, 2024, over 1300m. Likes dry conditions, rates highly. Has been good before when it's first-up.

Last time out, it finished 3rd out of 12 in the Open at Randwick on August 24. That race was over 1200m on a good track and it came in 0.3 lengths behind Silmarillion (55kg). Definitely among the winning chances. Previously, 1st of 6 at Warwick Farm Barrier Trial-Open on August 12, 2024, over 900m. Loves the distance and I hope that continues over the 1200m. Has had success before in dry conditions so the track conditions should suit. Very good career record in second-up situations. Racing well at the moment, so I like its chances.

I'm a big fan of Rockribbed in Race 8 at Doomben on Saturday. On August 17, won over 1350m at Doomben, carrying 57.5kg. That was a nice win, so I believe that Rockribbed can win on Saturday as well. Before that, Rockribbed finished first at Doomben in a Cls 6 on August 3, 2024, over 1350m. Likes running at Doomben, among the dangers for sure. Good stats at the distance too, bodes well for Saturday. Previously has had plenty of success when it's running third-up, so just another reason to get on board. In good form at the moment, so hopefully that continues.
