It has been almost a year since Helluva Barty was last seen on track but its performances in 2023 were superb and it should be refreshed and ready to return to action with a win here at Doomben.

Form of late from Rainbow Collection has been very steady and whilst it doesn't have too many wins on the card, it has come agonisingly close and it will be ready to put in a strong showing again.

VALUE BET - Highbar - $9.00
Results last season were hugely impressive for Highbar too, who hasn't been seen racing for over 6 months but if it can replicate that sort of form again in 2024, it should be one to keep an eye on in this open contest outside of the favourite.

This is the race connections have been targeting for Tannenburg, who is in fine fettle having won its last two races and it all looks to be clicking into gear here for a horse with endless potential.

THE DANGER - Victory Win - $3.70
A win over Tannenburg when these last two faced off does add a narrative arc to this one but Victory Win was hanging on a touch in that last triumph and it will need to find another gear if it is to back that up with another win.

VALUE BET - Whisky Dream - $7.50
In a field packed with top level talent, Whisky Dream has perhaps been overlooked a touch and with 4 wins from its last 5 outings, ruling this horse out doesn't look to be the smartest idea.

Doomben - Race 8 - Bundaberg Rum Cup - 1350m

BEST BET - Rockribbed - $3.50
Few horses can match the rich vein of form that Rockribbed is in and it will be the one to beat once again here at Doomben. It absolutely loves it around this track and if it gets a clear run, it will be very tough to stop.

THE DANGER - Excelladus - $4.80
Form of late from Excelladus has been a little patchy but in this field, it should be more than able to hold its own. Whether it can go all the way remains to be seen but it is certainly a good shout for each way punters.

VALUE BET - Plundering - $6.50
The Neasham yard is still searching for a breakthrough win at this level from Plundering but this could present the perfect opportunity. It has hit the post in the past couple of outings, which could serve as motivation to get over the line in this one.
