Big bets in review, Saturday’s runners in review as Cylinder readies for a return.

It was a tough weekend in horse racing betting with the Group 1 races season around the corner these fields have been revving up a bit and as such online betting is getting tougher but our Saturday Tips, and particularly best bets tips still had a few winners as well as our exotics tips going three from three, all for quite nice payouts. The below news article focuses on some big bets in review across the Aussie betting sites, blackbookers from Saturday’s racing and Cummings star Cylinder’s prospects next Saturday. This should aid us in getting an early lead on the Aussie betting sites and hopefully pick out some early winners prior to my Saturday tips and best bets tips coming out for the weekend.

Three horses to follow from Saturday’s racing

Rosehill R5: Olentia

Have to start this off with Waller’s future Group 1 races star Olentia who made it five from six when resuming to racing on Saturday at Rosehill when dominantly saluting at a nice price across the aussie betting sites and Waller suggested post race it won’t be long until we see her move onto group 1 races. Watch for her next time she steps out in my Saturday racing tips.

Rosehill R1: Caballus

I undoubtedly will have something on Caballus in my Saturday racing tips the next time she steps out for Waller after Jmac was forced to settle far back in the run when she missed the start and when she started a big run through the traffic she was held up at a crucial stage and only got clear air late. A more economical run sees her thrash that field and I will be sure to cover her prospects in my Saturday Tips / best bets tips next time she steps out to race.

Rosehill R10: Smashing Eagle

Smashing Eagle was awesome under Schiller as he took the treble of wins at Rosehill in the last and looks set to be onto bigger things as Spring racing approaches. He came from the back of the field and burst through to clock the fastest last 600m of the meeting (32.69s) and all three of the last furlongs were ran in sub 11 seconds, proving he wasn’t getting tired through the line. Very exciting horse, keen to see him step out next time wherever connections place him.

Big bets in review from Saturday’s racing

It was a big weekend in horse racing betting for some punters and we take a look at some of the biggest hits and missed across the Aussie betting sites in Saturday racing.

HITS

An astute punter was probably sweating throughout race day at The Valley when James Cummings’ Pereille dominantly took out the last race of the day with $20,000 on at $2.20.

Probably the bet of the day here across the Aussie horse racing betting sites as one punter had $4387 on Alors Tu Crois at a massive $14.00. He sat just off the leader's heels before peeling out around the 400m mark and powering home to get the money in the final strides.

Chorlton Lane produced one of the best runs of the day where Collett was in a tricky spot at the top of the Rosehill straight and Collett had to weave a path back in the inside and he finally was able to get clear air and dart through the line to win by just under a length in a very very impressive win. This landed one punter a massive $20,000 payout with $5000 on @$4.00 odds.

Cummings places Cylinder in this Saturday’s Vain Stakes

Golden Slipper runner-up Cylinder has been placed in Saturday’s upcoming Listed Vain Stakes at Caulfield and Cummings has stated, “He’s ready to go” where James had been deliberating placing Amur or Barber in the race but the way that the twice Group 2 winning Cylinder has been in recent weeks he claims he can’t deny him a start here.

"He's come back terrific, Blake Shinn will ride him next weekend, and hopefully he'll hit the ground running… He (Cylinder) will be hard to beat in the Vain."

We saw Giga Kick do something similar to what Cylinder will attempt to do when winning this race fresh last year before going onto win another listed race and then, of course, The Everest.

He will have to get past Blue Diamond winner Little Brose who has been put forward for this race and looks to be trialling super for his return to Saturday racing. Cylinder has also been trialling super, with two trial wins in two public trials in recent weeks.

He’s an $11 chance and an $8 chance across the Aussie betting sites for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas and Coolmore Stud Stakes respectively but Cummings says they are eyeing the Coolmore particularly as the ultimate goal after taking the race out last year on recently resigned In Secret.

"I want to kick him off (in the Vain) and set the rest of his prep up and keep our options open," Cummings said.

"It (Coolmore) would be a significant race for his (stud) career, there is a focus around that.

It is rarely a smart idea to discard Cumming’s horses in listed races, let alone when he is singing their praises to this extent and you can be sure to see Cylinder’s prospects covered in my Saturday racing tips and best bets tips for this weekend.
