After announcing that the 2025 All Star Mile would be a Group 1 race back in September, Racing Victoria (RV) and the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) have now disclosed the new conditions for the upcoming race.
In a short statement published on Tuesday, the top racing regulators revealed that the overall prize money for the race is going to be reduced. The statement also lays out the All Star Mile’s new place in the Australian racing calendar and the new qualifying process for the race.

Highlights
- The All Star Mile will now be a part of Flemington’s Super Saturday in March.
- First place will earn $1.5 in prize money.
- Five races will grant automatic entry into the All-Star Mile.
New Flemington Super Saturday race
The All Star Mile is always one of the biggest Autumn Carnival races. It will now take place on one of the most exciting days in the Autumn racing calendar.
RV and VRC have officially confirmed that the All Star Mile will take place on March 8, 2025 as a part of the Flemington Super Saturday slate of top races, such as the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap.
The new All Star Mile date will also serve as a major precursor to the Group 1 $2.5 million TAB Australian Cup later in the month on March 25.
Qualifying races confirmed and new conditions
Previously, the All Star Mile was an invitational race where Australian horse racing fans could vote on 10 of the 14 runners. Now, the new race will have a field of 16 gallopers and five direct qualification races.
The winners of these races will earn an automatic place in the 2025 All Star Mile at Flemington:
- Group 1 Sportsbet CFOrr Stakes (1400m, February 8 at Caulfield)
- Listed Elms Stakes (1400m, February 15 at Flemington)
- Lamaro’s Hotel Futurity Stakes (1400m, February 22 at Caulfield)
- Group 2 TAB Blamey Stakes (1600m, March 1 at Flemington)
- Australian Guineas (1600m, March 1 at Flemington)
Horses must be nominated before Tuesday, February 11, 2025 for a fee of $500.
Should the winner of any of these races not be an original entry into the All-Star Mile, connections can pay a late entry fee of $500 prior to 12pm (AEDT) on Monday, March 5, 2025.
A joint VRC and RV racing panel will retain the discretion to determine whether any wildcard entries are issued. Any wildcard entries will be announced no later than Monday, March 3, 2025.
Acceptances will close at 9am (AEDT) on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Reduced prize money announced
Another major revelation of the new All Star Mile racing conditions is the reduced prize money. Previous editions have had over $3.6 million up for grabs. The 2025 race will have a total prize pool of $2.5 million.
The winning horse will bring home $1.5 million of that overall pool. Second place will get $400,000 and third place is set to earn $200,000.
