Zac Lloyd back from suspension, Shelby Sixty Six returns towards Everest and Libertad’s big Saturday win.

It was a great weekend in horse racing betting as we are well underway into the Group 1 races season and my Saturday tips went quite solidly across the Aussie betting sites as we picked up a few winners even if our best bets tips didn’t go so well. Our exotics tips also went quite nicely but this article focuses on Libertad taking out the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes this past weekend as well as what Williams has to say about Shelby Sixty Six returning next weekend to racing and Zac Lloyd comes back next weekend as we look at his primary booking for a big weekend across the Aussie betting sites.

$40,000 Libertad rolls the San Domenico Stakes

Libertad rose to the forefront of a high class three year old field this past weekend in Saturday racing where he landed some big bets across the horse racing bookmakers in Australia with an awesome win at Rosehill on Saturday.

He remains undefeated with this win in the G3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) where he took out the majority share of the $250,000 prize money which seems like an even bigger win when you consider that Neasham picked him up for $40,000 as a yearling.

Neasham insists, despite the underrated reputation Liberad recently shed that,  "Libertad is not underrated by us, he is our standout three-year-old.”

"I thought he could win but I was worried about Chris's horse (Waller, trainer of Kandinsky Abstract) who looked unbelievable in the yard.''

"I thought we would be further back than where we were but once he slotted in I knew once he was there it would take a tough one to beat him.''

There really wasn’t much separating the winner and placegetters there and there will be some definite follows that will feature in my best bets tips / Saturday tips as Waller’s $3m Kandinsky Abstract was one of the more eye catching runners who powered home into fifth, running the fastest last 600m of the race in a vilifying 32.73 seconds.

Happy to see Neasham contine what has already been an incredible season and I will be sure to cover more of her runners as the Group 1 races season progresses in my free horse racing tips.

Shelby Sixtysix set to line up in the Concorde Stakes

The Giant slayer and one of the more exciting sprinters in the country Shelby Sixtysix looks to return to Group 1 racing in Saturday’s $1m Concorde Stakes and Danny Williams isn’t expecting him to be the giant slayer that he was when he knocked off our primary stars in Nature Strip and and Eduardo in the 2022 Challenge Stakes.

Williams insists that this race will be a key indicating factor into the prospects of some of the better group 1 race runners in the country when moving onto The Everest which is now less than two months away.

"We will nominate him for the Concorde but if it looks a little bit out of depth for him, we will wait another week. There is a very nice race for him at Rosehill, a 1100m Benchmark 88 and that looks ideal for him,'' Williams said.

"He has come up really well. He is such a gross horse, he takes so much time to get fit. He has had three trials and a gallop on Saturday morning.

"If we were to run in the Concorde it would be similar to what we have done in the past, which is to run him to try and get him a bit fitter.”

I am covering Shelby as I imagine a few of you will see the name on our betting sites and be keen to have something on but I think it is best to hold off, let him have his resuming run and then wait until I cover his prospects in my Best bets tips / Saturday racing tips when he next steps out.

In Secret and Zac LLoyd return for Concorde crusade

Zac Lloyd is itching to get back in the saddle and pick up some winners come Saturday when he steps out at Rosehill on Saturday.

One of his best rides will be the Godolphin star mare In Secret who was put through her motions in an exhibition 800m metre outing last Saturday. In Secret was worked along quite modestly and ran a last 600m of 39.09 then. LLoyd had a few things to say about In Secret’s prospects:

"She had her ears pricked the whole afternoon and went about her work as you'd expect a horse like her to go about it," Lloyd said.

"She's primed and ready to go first-up.

"It was a nice easy day out, a working gallop from the half-mile and she executed perfectly."

In Secret returns ino the Group 3 concorde Stakes (1000m) along with her stablemate Zapateo who still looks to be coming along to her peak

In Secret is a dual Group 1 winner and is rated an $11 chance for The Everest whilst Lloyd has a massive nine rides booked and is “really looking forward to getting back to work next week”.

I will be sure to cover In secret and Zac Lloyd’s prospects in my Saturday Tips / best bets tips for this coming weekend.
