Check out the free racing tips and best bets for Saturday's racing at Caulfield and Randwick. I'm heading to Caulfield for my best bet of the day in Race 8. Also, for my roughie bet, I've got my eye on Invader Zim in Race 8 at Randwick. The track at Caulfield is looking in good condition, it's rated a good 4 for race day on Saturday. The track conditions at Randwick are looking good for racing. Let's get into it!

Best Tip: Jimmy The Bear #2 Caulfield R8

With Brad Rawiller on board last start, won at Mildura (1400m). So hopefully that form continues into Saturday's race. On Saturday, Billy Egan is in the saddle and knows how to win. Get on board. Before that, Jimmy The Bear finished first at Sandown-Hillside in a Open on June 15, 2024 over 1800m. Loves the distance and I hope that continues over the 1600m. Looked good first-up and should be even fitter now.

Best Roughie: Invader Zim #7 Randwick R8

Invader Zim showed promise at Randwick on July 6, finishing 2nd out of 9 in a BM72 on a heavy track, just 0.1 lengths behind Patchouli Dream (55.5kg) with 56kg at $5.50. With that run under its belt, Invader Zim is expected to improve and I think is a strong contender for this race. Randwick stats are excellent, having not finished outside the top 3 yet. Wet track form reads well too Looked good first-up and should be even fitter now. In winning form, don't look past it.

Stats and Insights

  • Caulfield Racecourse is a tighter track than Flemington and suits on pacers more until distances past 1600m.
  • The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.
  • Randwick is a very wide track with a good run-in that makes it one of the fairest tracks around. It’s hard to say backmarkers are advantaged, but they are the closest thing to advantaged at Randwick Racecourse.
