Best Bets of the Day

OnlyRacing.com.au has you covered for Wednesday horse racing action at Warwick Farm and Sandown. We have your best bet of the day as well as a cheeky roughie. There should be decent conditions for racing at Sandown in its 8 card meeting. The track is a good 4 but I think that'll change come race time. Race 1 starts at 12:25pm and ends at 4:30pm. While at Warwick Farm, Sydney has been smashed by rain recently and the track is now a heavy 9. So focus on runners that like to run on a wet track. Let's get into it!

Best Tip: Naval Commission #5 Warwick Farm R5

I like the look of Naval Commission in Race 5 at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. Last start, beat Bestower (57.5kg) at Randwick-Kensington over 1800m at the starting price of $3.70. That was a good win and I like Naval Commission on Wednesday too, especially with Nash Rawiller on board from barrier 1. Before that, Naval Commission finished first at Scone in a BM66 on April 16, 2024 over 1700m, winning by 0.1L and beating Overice (58kg) carrying 59kg at $4.40. Good value odds at PlayUp, Chasebet and Questbet. Get on board!

Best Roughie: Preferential #6 Sandown R5

In his last race on May 20 at Stawell, he surged to the front, winning by 2.0 lengths. He carried 56kg and managed to beat Cat Noir (58.5kg), which was quite impressive, especially at $5.00 odds. So, it's definitely in top form right now. Before that, Preferential finished first at Moe in a BM58 on January 1, 1970 over 1628m, winning by 1.9L and beating Zilzie Lad (61.5kg) carrying 59kg at $19.00.

Stats and Insights

  • Warwick Farm is a heavy 9 on Wednesday so try and bet on runners that like wet conditions.
  • Sandown is a good 4 track at the moment but that could change during race day with a 30% chance of rain.
  • The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.

Best Racing Promotions

Promotions have historically been a great way for bettors to gain an advantage over betting sites by providing an edge to your bet. For racing specifically these promotions can be extensive in providing you some form of ‘outs’ to your bet that you wouldn’t normally receive.

Palmerbet, in recent weeks, has stood out to me across the Aussie betting sites that offer racing promotions and is one that I would take a look at, especially for big race days that feature Group 1 races and Saturday’s in general.

On our site we have a Palmerbet Review that goes in depth into the bookmaker as well as a Vicbet and Punterspal Review amongst some of the other top bookmakers that frequently have promotions.

Promotions tend to change regularly, so it is important to sign up to these betting sites to stay updated on the latest applicable promotions.
