Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets 15/05/24

We nailed our roughie bet on Tuesday so OnlyRacing.com.au has you covered for Wednesday horse racing action at Randwick-Kensington and Sandown. We have your best bet of the day as well as a cheeky roughie. Looking at the track conditions, Sandown is rated a Soft 5 at the moment. But in Randwick, the track has been smashed by rain recently and is currently a heavy 10. So, we'd recommend backing runners that love running in wet conditions. Both meetings have 8 races on the agenda, so let's get into it.

First time out at Canterbury over this distance didn't quite go as planned, but it wasn't a total flop either. On Wednesday at a more spacious circuit, this should suit this horse. It's had some time to shake off the cobwebs since its last run, so we're hoping for a stronger showing. Plus, Mars Mission has a solid track record in second-up races with 2 wins from 4 starts, so that's something to keep in mind. With Tommy Berry back in the saddle, who has a good track record with this horse, there's reason to be optimistic. They've won together a couple of times before. Also, Mars Mission has handled heavy conditions decently in the past, so if things stay muddy, that should suit. All in all, let's see if it can bounce back and put in a good effort today!

So, in Sandown Race 7, I'm keen on Arizona Activist. This horse made a solid comeback at Sale after being gelded. Yeah, this race might be a bit tougher, but the way it finished last time suggests it's got something going for it. Arizona Activist has had a couple of runs on soft tracks before and even snagged third place here back in April 2023. Plus, it recently took down Kimberley Pearl at Sale in some good conditions, with Jamie Mott in the saddle. Mott's back again on Wednesday, aiming to make it two wins in a row. I think this is a fairly open race so there are decent odds for this one.
