Best Tip: Perennial #2 Warwick Farm R5

Last time out at Rosehill, Perennial was right up there with the leaders and put in a solid effort. He showed great speed and battled on fairly well. This time, I think he's got a more favourable draw, which should give him a better shot. With that advantage, he's definitely among the dangers and one to watch closely. Perennial had an eight-week break before his last race at Rosehill, where things just didn’t go his way. He was presented in good form but became unsuited in transit and didn't place. But don’t let that unplaced performance let you down - he’s got the potential to bounce back strong as the favourite on Wednesday. In his last start, Perennial was the $4 favourite and ended up finishing fifth, four lengths behind over 1100m after being right in the thick of things around the corner. He's shown he has the ability to be a serious contender and with a bit more luck and a better trip, he’s got a real shot at taking this one.

Best Roughie: Freedom Escape #1 Bendigo R4

Freedom Escape has been putting up a solid run in his two runs this season. He's definitely looking stronger and ready for this longer trip, in my view. Last time out, he made a late surge and finished a close second over 1715m at Geelong, just half a length behind the winner. Now, coming into this race third-up from a spell, he's in great shape. He's been placed in both of his runs back and I think this race doesn't look any tougher. Freedom Escape is definitely one to watch and could be hard to beat. He goes on top for me as the best roughie of the day.

Stats and Insights

The Bendigo Racecourse is a very spacious circuit with long straights (24m width) and well-cambered turns (6% Camber) which makes it a great course for up and in runners and also lends an opportunity to backmarkers to come on strong.

The Bendigo Racecourse has chutes for the 1100m and 1600m that sees runners go around one full 180 degree turn and generally sees rails in runners go over the best at these distances.

There's 7 races at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and the track is a soft 7.
