Friday Racing Tips - Albury Racecourse 28/04/23

Racing returns to Albury NSW for a fun Friday meeting consisting of eight races that are all mostly over sprint distance with the lone staying race over the 2000m in race three. There are some good horses on debut, some locally trained that are operating for the bigger stables under sub contracts. I think that there will be some solid competitive races on the card so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots!

BEST BET - #1 - Sacred Oath (BEST BET)
Sacred Oath is making his stable debut for Mitch Beer after switching from the promine t Vandyke camp. He looked to move very nicely in a recent trial where he won at Wagga and that should see him coming into this primed to win. His form from last campaign reads very well for this, Beasley gets the booking and I expect them to be very hard to beat here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Final Comment
Final Comment is the one with the runs and wins on board and looks very well placed to make it back to back wins. First up she did very well when coming second of nine at Nowra at the beginning of the month over the 1200m before staying at the track and going out to this distance second up on a heavy track and coming from behind the speed to score smartly, winning by a length just over a week ago as a short favourite. Fitter, has that winning feeling and can go on with it.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Galactic Warrior
Galactic Warrior can be a big improver here fifth up after being given ample time between runs thus far in her prep. In her latest run she looked good when coming from last on the turn at Canberra two weeks ago with a very strong kick to end up fifth in a bunched field. The start before that she replicated a similar run pattern when fourth. Top chance to improve now off the back of that run.

BEST BET - #3 - Akka’s Meteor (NEXT BEST)
Akka’s Meteor looks very well placed to shed the maiden tag third up now. He seems to have turned a new leaf in racing under Mitch Beer and looked very good last time out at Wagga when leading and just going down late to a smart type. She looks good third up now and gets a weight relief, all things equal she wins this.

THE DANGER - #1 - Inveterate
Inveterate looks like a very good chance for Damon Budler third up. First up she launched onto the speed at Sapphire Coast just under a month ago over the 1200m where she was honest as ever, just going down late to end up second of eleven when beaten under a length. Second up she struggled in the run but just didn’t look to handle the wet ground there. She should be hard fit, back on top of the ground looks good and she can win now.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Gray's Reward
I think Gray’s Reward can be a big improver into this after not firing last week at Wodonga when finishing near last on a heavy track over the 1100m. The run before she showed some hot speed over the same distance before being eased out of the run to end up fifth. This race looks within her grasp and if the favourites go too hard she will be there to nab them late.

BEST BET - #5 - Sinaloa
Sinaloa looks very well placed for Mitch Beer on resumption today. He is having his first start after coming from the Bjorn Baker stable and looked to truck along in a recent trial when not asked for any effort and still placing. He gets the veteran Beasley on which can only aid his chance and is two from three over this trip, top chance to score first up.

THE DANGER - #2 - Beau Rock
Beau Rock has been flying for the Keating stable and comes into this on a three winning streak, having beaten off some softer competition than this. At her last run, she ran as favourite and sat just behind the speed before drawing clear from them late in a BM65 to score by half a length over the 1000m. Before that she clocked in a great time at the same track/trip in the same grade when winning by three lengths. She should take beating again.

VALUE BET - #1 -Chairman's Choice (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Chairman’s Choice is a big chance at the odds. Last time out at Wodonga she rolled forward, sitting on the pace and looking good but didn’t have any answers when asked for the effort and I think the big weight might have just brought her down a bit when she faded late. She should be hard fit now, draws the rails which suits her run style, drops in weight and meets easier competition now, genuine chance at the odds..
