Friday Racing Tips - Coffs Harbour Racecourse 29/12/23

A big regional NSW meeting comes to Coffs Harbour tomorrow and I am keen to pick up some winners here with eight competitive contests on the card that sees some of the top NSW and QLD stables putting forth runners. I have run through the card and picked out my three best betting spots so follow me below for a solid Friday meeting in Northern NSW.

BEST BET - #6 - The Wolf (BEST BET)
I am a big fan of Brett Bellamy’s and I think that he is doing good work with The Wolf who made his stable debut and just his second career run off of a 20 week break last time out when belting a nothing field, controlling the race and being dominant over this track and trip. The time wasn’t anything phenomenal but I think he ran up to his competition then and can run up to these now.

THE DANGER - #4 - Eloheh 
Danger and current running favourite Eloheh is a deserving one for the Blanch stable after winning one and placing in two from four this campaign. He comes out of a run in a big field here over this distance a few weeks ago where he didn’t get the clearest of runs but was very game in defeat. I think he shapes up a lot better out of that and will be prominent here undoubtedly. 

VALUE BET  - #8 - Rinnero
Rinnero is a milk drinker with just the one win in 24 starts but he does look to be in career best form and comes into two weeks between runs after last stepping out over this track and trip and found a spot late when clear to power home and finish very well into third place. I think he rates highly here and will be strong to some degree.

BEST BET - #2 - Another Balconyboy (NEXT BEST)
Another Balconyboy is one of the two Jarvis representatives that dominate the top two lines of betting and I think that he is the better of the two. He went away a winner and now resumed off of a 36 week spell at this track and trip a couple weeks ago when racing a bit greenly off the spell but laying in and getting the job done. I think he is a pretty talented horse and likely wins again here.

THE DANGER - #3 - Pixie Hallow
Stablemate is the danger just depends what tactics the stable does with both but Pixie Hallow comes into this third up and approaching hard fitness after resuming here and winning sharply off of a 32 week spell he came back to racing here off a six week break and gave another good kick in the straight when showing an abundance of speed to cross and lead when just unable to hold on late. He rates highly here.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Dune And Dusted 
Dune and Dusted is a last start winner and I think has to be given a bit of respect here. He was five weeks between runs when he last stepped out at Tamworth over this distance and the way he won there was very impressive when finding a gap late in the middle of the track and bursting through in good time to win well.

#2 - Kapsali - $6.50

BEST BET - #6 - Burdekin
Burdekin rates highly here for Brett Cavanough and is coming into this off of a win which saw him step out three weeks between runs and run home very strongly to win the race on the line. He rates highly off of that effort and doesn’t have to improve too much to be competitive here from the good draw and well weighted.

THE DANGER - #5 - Olakau'atu
Olakau’atu is a very good fresh horse for the Dodson camp and I think will be one of the strongest horses here. He hasn’t raced for 16 weeks but has a win and very close runner up placing in two from three of his first up runs. He finds a winnable race here and should be strong.

VALUE BET - #9 - The Maxinator (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
The Maxinator has been running too well to ignore here after recording a very close runner up placing first up off of a 15 week break at Ballina where he put the writing on the wall he then stepped out last time out over the 1400m there and won in fine fashion. Third up now, hard fit, can win again.

I have applied a similar strategy for my multi at Coffs Harbour to that of my midweek Multi at Warwick farm as I have tipped a lot in the earlier races I think there are a few standout types in these lower grade races who have been carefully placed by their stables for ratings purposes and who look to be moving onto Metro grade racing in the future.
