Friday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 05/05/23

Friday nights under the lights at Cranbourne continue for another week of exciting racing, there’s eight races on the card, all for a share of equal prize of $40,000 and as usual there are some prominent NSW and outer state stables who have sent forward their runners, some of whom look on their way to Saturday grade racing. It promises to be an exciting and competitive card so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots for Friday night’s racing at Cranbourne.

BEST BET - #8 - Right To Party (BEST BET) 
Good race we have here to kick off the card with some expensive horses on debut for big stables and I am quite keen to see how Right To Party shows up to the races for his first start. He’s a horse by Zoustar racing for the Freedman’s who is the Half sister to Big Party and Top Me Up. He came second in 1100m MORN Jumpout when sitting off the pace and being asked to give a bit at the end, to which he responded well and came on strongly. Looks like a talented type.

THE DANGER - #4 - Fearsomely
Fearsomely is the sister of Magic Million Ballarat winner Hawker Hurricane. She was an expensive purchase for the Busuttin and Young stable at $360,000 in the Magic Millions Yearling sale last year. The market has already signalled some respect towards her and the recent Jumpout two weeks ago was good enough for me to tail her. Top chance.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Cattrall
Cattrall is one of the few with a run on the board who debuted at this track and trip when fifth three weeks ago carrying 57kg. She was far from disgraced there and overcame a pretty suck run to still battle on well. The form from that reads very well with two subsequent winners having emerged already and I think she has plenty of scope to improve second up now. Definite danger.

BEST BET - #9 - Poiema (NEXT BEST)
I really like the look of Poiema third up under Zac Spain here after two very good runs where she has been brave as ever, fighting hard in both to only just go down late into the placings. She maps to find the front quite easily now and should have upside third up, Spain is flying and will have her look the winner a long way.

THE DANGER - #2 - King Neptune
King Neptune is another who has looked very good in her few starts this preparation but looks to have really found form now after making big improvements third up when racing at Geelong just under three weeks ago over the 1300m when motoring home to just miss the win and run second. Gets McNeil on now and they map for a good run in transit, top chance.

VALUE BET  - #11 - Rolling Rock
Rolling Rock made massive improvements last time out at Pakenham when second up over the 1400m where she sat just off the pace and motored through the field to get clear in the last 100m but just went down second to a super progressive horse in Gamegirl at the beginning of last month. She has been kept fresh for this since and I think she will be prominent throughout the run.

BEST BET - #2 - Tokenist
Tokenist is first up here for the Laurie stable and comes back to the races after showing some promise last preparation, winning his maiden over the 1500m at Mornington and then producing some very good efforts in strong competition in Town but not being too close to the mark. He runs well with fresh legs, stable is flying and gets the blinkers on to run his own race… smells like a winning combination.

THE DANGER - #7 - Le Ferrari
Le Ferrari has been very good this preparation with a win and two close second placings in four outings thus far. He looked a bit over his head last start at Sandown in the Vsires Guineass about three weeks ago when carrying a stack of weight. Before then he ran well to the finish to end up second in a 0-BM64. He draws well here, will be hard fit and I think he can run a good race.

VALUE BET - #13e - Titan Of Choice (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Titan of Choice has been running very well since changing camps to Peter Gelagotis and I particularly liked the way he ran last time out two weeks ago at Pakenham. The run came over the 1400m and he came from well back in a bad spot to power through, nearly winning but placing second by under half a length. I think the stable knows he needs to be ridden a bit more forward now and gets plenty of options from the draw, Mcneil is on and he only needs to provide a half decent steer for Titan Of Choice to be in the finish.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside.
