Friday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 12/05/23

Friday nights under the lights at Cranbourne continue for another week of exciting racing, there’s eight races on the card, all for a share of equal prize of $40,000 and there are some good horses going around from top NSW and outer state stables who look to be moving towards Saturday Grade races. I think it will be a competitive card and as such I have curated my best betting spots, follow me below as I outline them for Cranbourne Racing’s Friday night card.

Cranbourne R3 - THANK YOU BILL/MARIE VOSS MDN (1300m)

Selections:
#1 - Blazing Burj (BEST BET)  - $3.90
#8 - Queen Latifa - $2.20
#4 - Kollantai - $6.00
#6 - Nevicata - $3.90

BEST BET - #1 - Blazing Burj (BEST BET)
Blazing Burj looks very well placed for Mick Nolan after having only honest runs in his career thus far, placing in all three of them. His most recent run saw him sit three wide with no cover before shifting out on the turn and starting his run where he seemingly had every chance but just faded late when the run told. Draws well here, gets Dee aboard and they should be in the finish.

THE DANGER - #8 - Queen Latifa
Queen Latifa is resuming after a long thirty two week spell here for the Eurell stable and has previously contested some greater races than these. They have Spain for the booking which suggests intent and on times alone she should be very competitive here. I think she will get a good run in transit and be strong late. Top threat.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Kollantai
Kollantai made some big improvements last time out at Pakenham when second up where she set well back in the field and just kept improving throughout the run but the jockey eased her out of the race after giving too much off the turn. I think if she doesn’t give them too much of a start this time round she will find a cozy spot and can have a big kick for them on the turn.

Cranbourne R5 - Browns Sawdust & Shavings-Bm64 (1000m)

Selections:
#9 - Greyt Mumma (NEXT BEST) - $2.20
#1 - Tsunami Sam - $5.50
#10 - Beaukati - $5.50
#4 - Irish Mist - $10.00

BEST BET - #9 - Greyt Mumma (NEXT BEST)
Not sure how reliable a form reference Greyt Mumma’s maiden win race can provide but on sectional times alone wow she looks to be a progressive type. She comes into this off of a twelve week let up from the races and before this had resumed off of a long sixty five week spell at Stony Creek where she found the rail, led them out and still had a kick to hold them at bay. I expect the stable to have done some more good work on her since then and she can make it two from two here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Tsunami Sam
Tsunami Sam is a very talented looking horse for the Brunton Stable who comes into this off of a four week break from the races where she last had her first run for Scott Brunton off an eighteen week spell and she looked to have returned to racing in great order at Taree then. She missed the jump there but recovered to find the leader eventually and when she did, she motored straight past her to win in the last 100m. Has a very smart run style and should improve sharply still off the back of that return. Top chance.

VALUE BET  - #10 - Beaukati
Beaukati gets in very well at the weights here and has to be respected fresh having not raced since early February this year when she really was to the end of her prep. She’s proven with fresh legs, winning two from three fresh and draws nicely here, Ben Melham gets the booking and if they can get her to settle just off what looks a good speed she will be prominent late.

Cranbourne R7 - Obrien Real Estate Hcp (64) (1500m)

Selections:
#1 - Crimmo - $3.70
#2 - Powerful Eagle - $2.40
#3 - Tick Tock Boom (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $12.00
#4 - Inthelapofthegods - $26.00

BEST BET - #1 - Crimmo
I think this looks like a very good spot for Crimmo who is a Michael Moroney trained three year old that hasn’t done much wrong in her three starts at the races. She saluted first up at Ararat and displayed a great run style there before racing at Sandown and Cranbourne over the 1400m and 1300m, clocking in close third placings in both runs. Gets out to 1500m, has been racing like further will be better and I am keen to see what she produces on race day.

THE DANGER - #2 - Powerful Eagle
Powerful Eagle has to be respected in this field for Peter Moody. He’s third up off a break here after resuming at Sandown and trying his guts out to end up second in an honest run before racing on the Lakeside track there last time out when they tried riding him forward but ultimately didn’t look like the best strategy when he just faded late, with Nolen back aboard and a bit of a sit I think she’s going to be hard to beat late.

VALUE BET - #3 - Tick Tock Boom (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
No knock on Tick Tock Boom who looked to make big improvements last time out when racing two weeks ago at Pakenham and really has started to come to the races. She bounced well, setting third and working throughout the run to give them a crack after the turn but just couldn’t get there behind some strong types to end up third. I think she will improve a lot off of that and the added fitness can only aid her chances, top chance to go over now.

Jockey Of The Day – Jye Mcniel

Jye McNeil is an accomplished jockey, having won several black type races, including the prestigious 2020 Melbourne Cup aboard Twilight Payment. He has also received the Victoria Racing Club's Champion Jockey Award in two consecutive seasons (2019/20 and 2020/21), underscoring his reputation as one of Victoria's finest jockeys. He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Cranbourne Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

R3 - #6 - Manhattan Thunder - $12.00
R5 - #4 - Toronto Terrier - $6.10

Multi Tips For Cranbourne Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #4 - Good And Proper - PLC $2.20
R3 - #4 - She Dances - PLC $1.45
R5 - #9 - Running By - PLC $1.20

Best Promotions for Cranbourne Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
