Friday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 13/10/23

Friday nights under the lights at Cranbourne continue for another week of exciting racing, there’s eight races on the card, all for a share of equal prize of $40,000 except for the two feature races of the card which will be run for a share of $100,000 and there are some good horses going around from top NSW and outer state stables who look to be moving towards Saturday Grade races. I think it will be a competitive card and as such I have picked out my best betting spots, follow me below as I outline them for Cranbourne Racing’s Friday night card.

BEST BET - #2 - High Society Girl (NEXT BEST)
Strong maiden race here but I am leaning the way of High Society Girl for Michael Kent and I think she is the leading contender. She’s had two runs since coming off a short break and has really improved between them so I think that third up here she strikes a winnable race with her condition. Her last run saw her step out over the Mile at Moe where she endured a long run three deep just behind the pace before shifting out wide but I really like how she just kept fighting to the line there and looks well placed to go one better now.

THE DANGER - #5 - Pavliani
Pavliani hadn’t shown too much in her two career starts back at the end of last year but has since traded hands and is now with Graeheme Begg and I think that we know how he is infamous for being able to turn around a tried horse. The market is giving plenty of respect to her so I am too.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Stunna The Runna 
I don’t think that this horse is going to take this out, given she is a 17 start maiden but I do think that at the huge quote of $26.00 she is one to consider for your exotics. She produced a promising effort two runs back at Moe over the 1200m where she really got going late in the piece to power home into the placings before taking a little break from racing and doing nothing next time out. I think she is better suited being turned around quickly which is what we see here and with the huge claim she gets in super light.

BEST BET - #3 - Think Winning (BEST BET)
Another tough race but I am leaning the way of Sandhu’s Think Winning who has not stopped putting in good efforts this prep. He won two back at Sale over the 1400m before stepping up to Saturday competition at Flemington last time out where he jumped awkwardly but improved and I really liked how strong he was through the line when chasing hard all straight to place third behind Matron Bullwinkel. That form reads the best of the race and I think he is a top chance here.

THE DANGER - #11 - Lady Hampton
Lady Hampton has more upside than most in this field and I think she rates highly for the Krongold stable here. She’s had just the one run in the midweeks at Sandown Hillside where she was resuming off of a 29 week spell and the market had her to run well which she did. She came from fifth in the run then to chase hard all straight and find herself just behind the exacta. Plenty to offer only second up now and is a winning chance.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Huguenot 
Giving Huguenot another look here for the Eurell stable. This horse ran a close second placing in a good time at Moe two back over the 1600m before taking a jump up to a sharp race in Saturday company at The Valley last time out where he raced too keenly in the first half of the race before fading late. He will be approaching peak fitness now, gets a big claim to come into this nicely weighted and draws a good gate. With a decent steer he should feature here.

BEST BET - #3 - Bombastic Boy
Not tipping him with an awful lot of confidence but I do think that Bombastic Boy is the straight bat option in what looks to be a competitive get out race. He’s had two runs back from a long 41 week spell and hasn’t put in a bad effort in either. He won when resuming here over the 1200m and beating a solid field before coming back off a 3 week break and putting in another great effort at Moe where he was badly held up at a crucial stage and likely would have won there but still managed to power into second place. Third up, hard fit, should be undefeated this prep I think he only runs well.

THE DANGER - #6 - Mondo
No public trials or jump outs for his return is a bit of a concern for Mondo but I think that coming from the Price / Kent stable and with the amount of market respect he is getting that Mondo has to be given a look here. He’s only had the two career preps so far but has run very well fresh in both. The last time he was first up he raced over the 1200m and got going hard late in the piece on the turn to run home into second place. If he shapes up anything like that here he will be competitive.

VALUE BET - #1 - Our Boy Bryan
Our Boy Bryan has to lug the big weight here but I am tempted to say that might not be enough to stop him here. He came off of a six week break from racing last time out at this track over the 1200m under the same weight with Tatum Bull on where he got going late in the piece and really let down to place third there, chasing very well from out wide. He now gets the experienced Mertens on board and maps for a much softer run and this race isn’t overly strong.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside.
