Friday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 19/01/24

Racing returns to Cranbourne again this Friday for a belter eight race card under the lights and we have $320,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in VIC this Friday evening as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

BEST BET - #1 - Cherokee Brave 
I think that Cherokee Brave has showed enough in two career starts for Danny O’Brien for me to have something on her at the price she comes up at. She is coming back to racing off of a 19 week break and debuted very nicely before running one more time at Sandown prior to going away for the spell and I think based on both of those runs as well as getting Shinn booked for the ride now she should be strong here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Dragoon
Obvious danger in the Eurell camp’s Dragoon who comes out of a 1500m race at this track at the end of last year when he loomed strongly at the top of the straight and was flying home, hitting the lead at the 100m and looking the winner before just being claimed late to one stronger horse. He rates very highly off the back of that run and is a winning threat again.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Pure Power (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Pure Power should not be treated lightly here for Maher and Eustace and comes into this having his third career start and off the back of a run at this track and trip where he set third in the run along the rails before hitting it hard in the straight and fighting well to the line to only find the exacta better than him. Third up now, hard fit and ready to peak I think he only goes well.

BEST BET - #7 - Kumicho (NEXT BEST)
I think that Kumicho can get the job done here for the Alexander camp and should be strong with the racing edge on some of the resuming favourites. He comes into this third up and off of a run at Seymour a couple weeks back where he came from behind the speed to chase very hard in the straight and just got squeezed late when crowded near the line, third up now, hard fit and can go over here.

THE DANGER - #5 - Master Of Chant
I think Master Of Chant commands an element of respect for the Busuttin and Young camp after having quite a successful last prep and comes back to racing off of a 19 week spell here. She’s changed hands a couple times since coming over from England but has won well on local shores and now comes back here with a good gate, Shinn booked and all signs point to a positive showing.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Lumber Punk 
Lumber Punk rates one of the highest in this field for the Corstens camp and I think has to be given an element of respect here. She last stepped out at Terang over the 1125m when being last along the rails but chasing strongly along the fence to drive through and just miss to a horse who had the gun run. She rates very well coming off of that and is a threat at good odds.

BEST BET - #7 - The Ballet Dancer (BEST BET)
I am pretty confident that The Ballet Dancer gets it done here for the Hayes boys who go very well at this course. She comes here third up and off the back of a run at this track over the mile when showing big improvements between runs and chasing very strongly late in the piece to just miss out. I think back 100m in trip is actually suited to her based on how she last ran.

THE DANGER - #3 - Simeon
With just the one win in eleven starts I find it hard to back Simeon at the short quote but he does have to be respected here for the Busuttin and Young stable. He has come very close this campaign, placing in three of his five runs and comes back a fair bit in depth for this assignment, hard fit and with Shinn aboard, that could just be the key to getting the win.

VALUE BET - #1 - Aminikii
Last start winner in Aminikii who stepped out at Mornington a couple weeks ago over this trip and came from two wide in the run to hit the lead at the 600m, give a strong kick, draw clear and just keep going in a dominant effort. It would be foolish to ignore her off the back of that run and I think she shapes up very well here.
