Friday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 19/04/24

Racing returns to Cranbourne again this Friday for a great eight race card under the lights and we have $305,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in VIC this Friday evening as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

BEST BET - #4 - Derozario (BEST BET) 
Pretty keen on Derozario in the opener and I think he’s a very good bet that should jump a lot closer to favouritism come the start of the race. He’s had two runs this time in off of a 37 week break and has improved sharply with each. The first coming at Pakenham over the 1400m when needing the run before stepping out at Pakenham again over this trip and showing plenty of fight to hold third off of a tough wide run. Hard fit now third up, meets a softer field and with any more luck in the run I think he’s going to be tough to beat from out front. 

THE DANGER - #8 - Sun Gift
Sun Gift is the favourite here for Danny O’Brien and whilst he is a deserving favourite he is just a bit too short for mine. However, that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be respected here and he comes off of two runs to kick off the career in which he improved sharply last time out at Geelong in the mud over the 1750m where he hit the lead at the top of the straight and was firing down the line but was just outkicked in the final stride by the winner. He’ll be fitter and still has plenty of upside off that run. Go well. 

VALUE BET  - #2 - Lord Protector
Lord Protector is definitely worth a look here for the Busuttin and Young camp having showed plenty of improvement between his first and second up runs this time in. He was thrown in the deep end on debut back at Sandown and comes off a Pakenham mile run where he was really working well into his task late despite not being a winning threat. I think he now presents as a big improver getting out to the 2000m.

BEST BET - #9 - Farisha (NEXT BEST)
Farisha gets the nod for me for the Hayes boys coming here against some raced horses for start number one. She’s a well bred horse by Nicconi who has won three of her four jumpouts to ready her for start one and all have been on the trot, at tracks of Seymour, Werribee and Bendigo with the latest seeing her lead throughout over the 800m and look soft from out front. That was less than a week ago so clearly she’s been revved up for start one and whilst she draws wide, she gets in well weighted, it’s a small field and Cartwright can give her the right kind of steer here.

THE DANGER - #7 - Think Rock 
Think Rock has to rate as one of the leading contenders here having placed at both of his starts this time after coming to Julius Sandhu, having not been seen at the races for a massive 59 weeks prior. His run last week was the one that particularly struck my interest when running home hard behind a very progressive animal in Russian Bobshark. I think he shapes up well staying at sprint distance and has a very good chance of winning tomorrow.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Babalola
Babalola is the one to beat on ratings alone. He comes into this race after having his first start for the Hope camp last time out. He was 15 weeks between runs when making his new stable debut at Benalla just shy of two weeks ago where he kicked through the field early to lead and showed plenty of fight throughout the run, still being strong through the line despite finding one better late to what looks a sharp horse as well. I think he will have plenty of improvement off of that run coming into this now.

BEST BET - #5 - Delusionaldictator (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Awesome race here on a Friday at Cranbourne and whilst there are plenty of talents about I am siding with Delusionaldictator for the Williams camp. He had a monstrous twelve trials / jumpouts before his debut win at Wangaratta where he clocked the second fastest 1400m run at the course in 275 runs. The fastest coming from a multiple Stakes winner. He now resumes having had four jumpouts / trials and has looked sharp in each. I think he returns well here at a nice price.

THE DANGER - #3 - Licensed
Licensed looks like quite a smart favourite for the Price / Kent camp and is a bit too short for mine in such a competitive race but he does deserve respect here. He comes back from a 30 week spell in this field after having won his debut in sharp fashion at the end of September last year at this course over the 1200m where he never let anything else even get into the race. Has to rate highly off that kind of debut and I am keen to see how he steps out here on returning.

VALUE BET - #4 - The Shaper
The Shaper appears to be a very nice horse for the Freedman’s who comes here for start number four after having put the writing on the wall before shedding the maiden tag last time out at Sandown Hillside over the 1400m where he chased hard to find the lead and power away from them at the 100m in a very strong go. He doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon and I think will be prominent again here. Go well.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside.
