Friday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 22/03/24

Racing returns to Cranbourne again this Friday for a great seven race card under the lights and we have $320,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in VIC this Friday evening as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

Cranbourne R1 - Ladbrokes Blackbook Mdn Plate (1000m)

Selections:
#7 - Gypsy Julie (BEST BET) - $3.50
#3 - Son Of Zorro - $1.95
#8 - Love The Fall Line- $6.00
#5 - Evening Harmony - $9.50

BEST BET - #7 - Gypsy Julie (BEST BET)
I think that this is a sneaky spot for Frank Stockdale’s Gypsy Julie to roll the odds on favourite in this race and he comes into this off of just his second career start at Pakenham last time out off of a 41 week break where he set near last in the run before working into the race from out wide and eventually being able to let down and just miss the win. That was a great effort returning from such a long break and I expect him to only be improved off the back of that effort.

THE DANGER - #3 - Son Of Zorro
Honest danger in Son Of Zorro who steps out for start number six for the McCarthy camp tomorrow and looking ready to win off the back of a bunch of sharp runs to kick his career off. He last ran at Caulfield Heath when three weeks between runs where he was a bit keen early and then settled back in the run before really chasing hard out wide to end up fourth there. In the runs prior he has shown quite a bit of talent and I think he shapes up very well here now, just a bit too short for me.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Evening Harmony
Evening Harmony looks like a smart debutant for the Fahler stable and comes here off the back of a few sharp jumpouts. The whispers say he has been revved up for start one and he draws a good gate here, gets in at just over limit weight after the 3kg claim from Burke and should be sharp here at big odds.

Cranbourne R3 - Hygain (Bm64) (1400m)

Selections:
#7 - Chill The Krug - $2.40
#3 - Fang It - $6.00
#6 - Queen Of Tuscany (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $6.50
#4 - Lady Shalaa - $8.00

BEST BET - #7 - Chill The Krug
I think that Chill The Krug will be tough to beat second up off the back of his resuming run for the Busuttin and Young stable. He came off of a 19 week spell last time out at Sandown Hillside when racing over the 1300m and being held up from the 500m-300m but when he did get clear air in the last 200m he was chasing very hard through the line to end up fourth. He should improve sharply off the back of that run and with a more economical run in transit he should be taking this out.

THE DANGER - #3 - Fang It
Fang It looks like quite a smart horse for the Moody and Koleman camp who broke maiden a couple runs back and has been running well since. The win came over the mile at Cranbourne before he stepped out at Bendigo over the 1500m last time out and had to endure a tough run from deep and wide but still found plenty in the straight to charge home into third. He shapes up well off the back of that run and should still be strong here if there’s steam in the tank.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Queen Of Tuscany (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Queen Of Tuscany is another horse who is in form and can go on with it here. The Griffiths and De Kock camp have been flying and she looks like one of their more solid reps for the day. She put together a bunch of close placings on the bounce before stepping out at Pakenham 5 weeks between runs last time out and chasing hard to emerge the best in the last 50m of the race. She goes back up in grade for this but looks ready for it.

Cranbourne R5 - Rosemont Stud (Bm64) (1300m)

Selections:
#1 - Guerrera (NEXT BEST) - $5.50
#6 - Cattrall  - $2.40
#4 - Stellar Mofeed - $4.60
#3 - Fuzz Buzz  - $7.00

BEST BET - #1 - Guerrera (NEXT BEST)
I think that Guerrera should be much closer to favouritism in the market here for the Laming camp and is being somewhat disrespected here. He comes into this with the highest rating in the race and having won or placed in all career starts to date. His most recent effort at Cranbourne over the 1200m was most pleasing when battling hard in the last 100m to place well. He gets top weight offset by a claimer here and should be sharp. Tough to beat IMO and comes up at a nice price.

THE DANGER - #6 - Cattrall
I can understand the support for Cattrall here. He seems like a smart animal that has returned to racing well for Anthony and Sam Freedman with two runs this time in. He resumed with a bang off the 22 week spell at Sale with a very strong first up win before stepping out at The Valley last time out when not getting the easiest of runs but still coming on strongly in the straight to run a close fourth. Hard fit now, meets a beatable field and will be strong undoubtedly.

VALUE BET - #4 - Stellar Mofeed
Stellar Mofeed didn’t beat all that much when making her debut for the Corstens camp but the strength of the win does make you have to consider her here. She came off a 22 week spell for start number 10 when debuting for the camp at Ararat a couple weeks ago and blitzing the field to just grind the leader down through the run and win well. She should take a stack of improvement off that run and only be stronger now

Multi Tips For Cranbourne Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

Cranbourne R1 - #7 - Gypsy Julie -  PLC $1.30

Best Promotions for Cranbourne Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
