Friday Racing Tips - Dubbo Racecourse 09/06/23

Racing returns to Dubbo off the back of an awesome card last week at the track and again we look set for an entertaining and competitive day with the prominent regional NSW stables putting forward runners who look to be progressive. There are eight races on the card, with two maiden’s to kick us off and the subsequent races to be contested in benchmark and open grades. Each of the races will be run for a share of $35-40k, the track is rated a good 4 and the rail is in true position. Follow me below as I outline my best betting spots on the card.

Dubbo R3 - Evergreen Turf Hcp (1000m)

Selections:
#7 - Foreign Brother (NEXT BEST) - $4.40
#4 - Beauchamp - $3.90
#8 - Ranuncula - $5.50
#6 - Dubbo Wanderer - $4.60

BEST BET - #7 - Foreign Brother (NEXT BEST)
Pretty hard to ignore how well Foreign Brother is going. The Groth product resumed off a quick four week let up and has been going very well in two runs since. He’s come very close to winning both of his starts, sitting on the speed and finding more late in each run but just going down to good types in the process to finish runner up in both those runs. He is in form, fit and should go very well here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Beauchamp
I am intrigued by the horse Lundholm has put forward for this race in Beauchamp. The five-year-old resumed off of a nine week spell two weeks back at Wellington and raced a bit greenly there, having to be restrained before coming off heels and starting a powerful run where he motored home into the placings. He gets in here at just 52.5kg with the claim and should be running very well with no weight on his back, top chance.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Ranuncula
Ranuncula, I think, should be a big improver in this field for Stephen Jones second up here. The stable has been flying lately, combining with Mikayla Weir often for a bunch of wins which is the set up we see for Ranuncula today. He looks to have returned in pretty solid order as well off the back of his last run at this track where he led and was weakened out of it late, where the fitness just told. He should be much improved off the back of that now and will go close here.

Dubbo R4 - Kings Hall Jewellers Hcp (1100m)

Selections:
#1 - Hellfire Express (BEST BET)  - $1.70
#10 - Staffa - $6.00
#2 - Plenitude - $9.50
#5 - Aunty Maree- $11.00

BEST BET - #1 - Hellfire Express (BEST BET)
There’s a handful of unraced debutants in this field but it still isn’t enough to steer me away from Hellfire Express who looks like a moral in this field. The Neasham trained Juvenile took awhile to come up to the races but once he did, three weeks back at Goulburn, he toweled the field, sitting three wide without cover all run before angling off in the straight and thrashing them inside the last 200m. Still should have plenty of upside off the back of that and will be sure to run well here.

THE DANGER - #10 - Staffa
I have gone with Staffa as the main danger to Hellfire Express. Blake Ryan is astute with placing his juveniles and combines with James Innes Jnr under Staffa for start one. He trialled at the Hawkesbury at the beginning of last month where he was moving very nicely when ridden quietly before trialling again there a couple weeks ago where he led them out and won nicely, signalling some promise for start one. I think he will be in the finish here.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Plenitude
Plentitude is one of the runners with runs on board and can go very close here without having to improve too much on what has been modest but promising runs thus far. He raced two back at Wagga in only his second start to the races but was very good there, trying hard all run to hold second. He then came to this track three weeks ago where he worked from back in the run to motor home and just missed the placings. He draws to settle a lot closer now and can go one better here.

Dubbo R5 - Mercedes-Benz Dubbo Hcp (C1) (1100m)

Selections:
#5 - East Harlem - $6.00
#10 - Life's A Party - $3.60
#3 - Press Forward (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $9.00
#2 - Epic Time - $8.50

BEST BET - #5 - East Harlem
There are a few key runners in this race but I have landed on the Mirfin stable trained East Harlem who has been as honest as they come in his two starts back from an eighteen week spell. He’s lightly raced, having only had six starts at the races but looks a very good thing third up now, hard fit and off the back of two very close placings in comparable company to this. I think he will run well here under Nick Heywood.

THE DANGER - #10 - Life's A Party
Clear danger in the field is Life’s A Party who I cannot knock having had just the one start for Mark Jones and being absolutely awesome on debut. He debuted at the end of December last year at his home base of Orange in a big field and made a mess of them, bouncing to the lead easily and finding more when challenged in the straight. Looks set for a big return off the back of that but I can’t lay money down at this price.

VALUE BET - #3 - Press Forward (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I can’t knock Press Forward who has had just the two starts for Brett Robb since changing hands from the Portelli stable last year and resumed off of a 24 week spell two runs ago at this track and was a moral on paper here but just found one better when getting a bit tired late. He then went to Wellington over this distance and wound up to motor over them late and finish the best, clocking some of the best splits of the day there. I think he will only go better third up now and ran very well at this track just two runs ago. Go well

Best Promotions for Dubbo Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
