Racing at Flemington on a Friday night! What luck, this doesn’t happen too often and we have been given a good card for it too. Flemington Racecourse features a seven race card with all races over sprint distance from 1000m-1200m and an even split of $55,000 prize per race. It should prove an exciting card!

Smile and Wave looks to be a progressive horse who steps up to race in the city today after a gutsy, strong win when ridden out on her hands and heels first up at Mornington and she looks a talented type who can go on with it now. She sticks at the 1000m and Newitt retains the ride.

THE DANGER - #1 - Independent - $6.00
I think this looks like a very good spot for Independent, the Linc Sullivan Gelding resumes under Damien Oliver after a successful last prep with a win and two placings in three runs and looks to be ready for this off the back of two nice trials, the most recent was a win when looking to have more in hand.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Bazinga Bazinga - $18.00
Bazinga Bazinga comes into this off the back of a third placing at Stony Creek over this distance and won two runs back at Mornington for an all the way win. She definitely has talent and her run style is good for this. Gets in nicely weighted and big jockey bonus of Shinn on board.

BEST BET - #3 - Anilla- (NEXT BEST)
I think this race presents a really good opportunity for Anilla to make it a hat-trick of wins. She thrashed them at Stawell on debut, winning by nearly 4 lengths before going to Wangaratta where she raced on the speed and gave a kick to narrowly beat them. Has been running great times, looks suited at 1200m third up, draws nicely and doesn’t meet too tough a field on the ratings.

THE DANGER - #9 - Miss Middle Park 
Maher and Eustace have to be respected when they look to be bringing a talented type through the grades. This feels like that with Miss Middle Park who had her first start for the camp just before the new year and belted the field, drawing clear in the last 200m as a short favourite. Natural improvement and Melham retaining the ride suggest this isn’t out of her grasp.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Jet Jitsu
Jet Jitsu ran awesomely last time out at Stawell and I was backing him there. He showed a monster turn of foot there, only winding up late and then being checked inside 100m from the post and still powering through to place second. In an ideal world I think he would have won that. He likes the cut in the ground here and this distance range and I think he will be suited by the track as well.

BEST BET - #4 - Keitel
I think Keitel is genuine. The three year old resumes at the races for Mick Price and Michael Kent after just the one run half a year ago on the Synthetic. I am always apprehensive with the form translating over from the synthetic but he was just too good on debut there to be ignored and I trust this astute stable to have him ready for this assignment. I am interested to see what they produce on race day.

THE DANGER - #10 - Pink Cashmere
I think Pink Cashmere finds a beatable field here third up. She was great at her first outing this campaign, picking up a smart win on the Ballarat Synthetic before going to The Valley as a $3.50 favourite and was slowly away there which often doesn’t play well at that track. I think out to 1100m and onto the Flemington straight suits and she should be hard fit third up now.

VALUE BET - #5 - King Valley 
King Valley was excellent on his debut at the races and cannot be ignored now in what isn’t too dissimilar a field. He seemed to have a lot in hand and also exhibited a smart running pattern when sitting just off the speed and charging to edge them out in the last 50 metres. That race was run quite slowly but he still managed a decent time, this is harder but not a crazy step up for what looks to be a talented horse.
