BEST BET - #Alaska De Lune
There looks to be a couple key chances in this field but I think that the Damien O’Brien trained Booboo Boogie shouldn’t be a maiden anymore. Her past two efforts over this track and distance have been more than encouraging when running ever close placings and striking some trouble that without she likely would have won both of those runs. She looks to be at peak now off the back of a luckless run last time out in the Heavy over this distance where she was in an awkward spot from the wide draw and still ran on super strongly to come second. Should roll forward from barrier three now, Meech on and loves a front runner, tough to beat.
THE DANGER - #8 - Co Co Van Winkle
The Hayes boys look to have quite a talented juvenile on their hands in Co Co Van Winkle who had a solid three run debut prep in the Summer where they looked to really start to get the tactics right in his third and final run before a spell when ridden forward and looking the winner over this distance in a Strong Maiden to only be gunned down in the final strides into second. He looked sharp in a recent Flemington Jumpout and likely finds the lead here and will be hard to hold out.
VALUE BET - #6 - Statesmanship
Statesmanship put in some great performances in high grade for the Snowdens back in the day but was sold to Tony Parker at the beginning of last year, didn’t do too much for the stable last time in but seems to be in for a good second prep now for the stable. He resumed off of an 18 week spell at Geelong in mid May and was great from out front there, only finding one better late and then coming to this distance on the Synthetic where he jumped awkwardly but did the same as the run prior and again only found one better. He should be hard fit now and finally draws a good gate in gate two which should give him every chance.
