Friday Racing Tips - Geelong Racecourse 30/06/23

Racing comes back to Geelong this Friday and we have an awesome and stacked ten race card that sees some very nice types coming forward for the top Victorian stables and I am excited to get stuck straight into things with a few very good betting spots popping up from what I have seen. The track is rated a Heavy 9, most races are contested over mid to longer distances and I think we should see some very solid racing take place on the course so follow me below as I highlight my best betting spots on the card!

Geelong R6 - Logical Property Services-Bm58 (2470m)

Selections:
#1 - Christmas (BEST BET) - $3.20
#4 - Calvi - $4.20
#3 - Three Earls - $7.50
#7 - Tylden - $8.50

BEST BET - #1 - Christmas (BEST BET)
Christmas looks like a good thing going for the Preusker stable. He’s had three runs back from a spell this time in and has improved sharply in each. His second up run came over the 2100m in the Heavy at Horsham and he was very good there, coming on strongly to the home turn and making good ground but just couldn’t real the leaders in there when game in defeat second. He then raced at Swan Hill last time out where he took over at the 350m, coming from deep in the run, to look the winner and just be outgunned in the final stride to come second. This doesn’t look any harder than what he has been contesting and I am keen on his prospects in this field.

THE DANGER - #4 - Calvi
Calvi likely looks set to peak here third up from a spell for Damien O’Brien and whilst his form hasn’t read as much on paper for his last couple I think that he has plenty more to offer and has been working towards a win quite well. He resumed at this track when coming on strong from out wide in a big field to place fourth before going to Moe in this wet ground and not handling the conditions totally there. That is a bit of a concern for this but the stable clearly thinks he will handle the ground tomorrow so I am keen to see how he goes here.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Three Earls
Three Earls shed the maiden tag three runs back and looks very well placed to go on with it now. The maiden win came at Horsham over the 1800m on soft ground when she really got the gun run before charging through at the 200m to finish the best in the field. She stepped onto the Heavy ground over the 2027m at Seymour last time out and looked to relish that run with a very game third placing to a smart one in Bors and I liked the way she never stopped finding the line in defeat.

Geelong R7 - White Eagle House (Bm58) (2470m)

Selections:
#3 - Whirly Jig - $3.90
#1 - Chevalier Du Fau - $2.35
#6 - Thistler (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $13.00
#8 - Way Up High - $18.00

BEST BET - #3 - Whirly Jig
This looks the ideal set up for the Ken and Kasey Keys trained Whirly Jig who is a well bred stayer that doesn’t win out of turn but looks to have been set up nicely for this assignment. He’s been racing in town contesting some harder races than this such as a BM84 two back at Flemington where he was never headed before coming to this track and out to this distance range last time when overcoming a very tough wide run to finish midfield. He gets a much softer draw this time in, is hard fit now and ready for the trip and excels at this trip / track condition combination, scoring a big win in the Heavy when racing at this distance at a similar time in his prep last year. Go close.

THE DANGER - #1 - Chevalier Du Fau
Patrick Payne is flying at the moment and has to be respected with these Stayers he’s putting forward at Regional tracks. Chevalier Du Fau is an extremely progressive lightly raced four-year-old who hasn’t set a foot wrong since coming to the stable in April and resuming off a 24 week spell, having placed or won each of her four runs back and that win came last time out at Swan Hill in similarly soft going over the 2400m where she led and did hang out in the straight but was still far too good for them for a dominant win. She looks set to go on with it now and will be the front runner in this race.

VALUE BET  - #13 - Thistler (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
Thistler did not handle the high weight handicap last time out when he made his way over to Warrnambool in the Heavy and had to lump 70kg for that 2350m contest on a truly bogged down track and just didn’t handle that run when dropping out the race. However, before then he raced here off a smart four week let up from racing and was very good when chasing along the rails to do the best late of the field. I didn’t think he beat much off but another horse from that race has subsequently won since and think back to this track / trip fitter now he will only run an improved race.

Geelong R9 - Wilsons Real Estate (Bm64) (1447m)

Selections:
#3 - From Pantherland (NEXT BEST) - $4.80
#1 - The Deputy - $3.70
#5 - Presser - $6.50
#12 - Tango And Cash - $4.60

BEST BET - #3 - From Pantherland (NEXT BEST)
From Pantherland looks very good off the back of his three runs back from a spell for the K & K Keys stable. He resumed at Moe where he chased strongly, making lots of ground in the last 200m to finish a very close runner up in a big field there. He was never headed second up in the Mud at Cranbourne which is a slight query for this as he gets back onto this ground however he was ever so impressive last time out at this track over the 1435m when improving from four deep near the turn to power away in the last 200m and never be in doubt from there. We were on him then and I am not keen to jump off now.

THE DANGER - #1 - The Deputy
The Price and Kent stable are astute with placing their lightly raced runners and juveniles and The Deputy is just a two start veteran at the races, winning his debut at Sandown on the Hillside course some 9 months ago over the 1300m before being sent back to the paddock until three weeks ago where he missed the start and improved throughout the run but overraced mid race and it told late. He should improve a lot second up now, showed plenty of talent on debut and doesn’t look like he’s returned to racing badly. I think he will go close.

VALUE BET - #5 - Presser
Presser has looked very strong in his four career starts for Archie Alexander and there is no reason to knock him now. He’s coming back off a very long 61 week spell here but I do think he is good to go off the back of some nice Jumpouts where he has been moving along seemingly very nicely. She placed second on debut at Warrnambool to Wrote to Arataki and her maiden win came at Benalla in very nice time when taking over inside the 300m and never being in doubt from there. If she runs up to anything in her four career starts she will be competitive in this field.

Multi Tips For Geelong

The Geelong track displays a noticeable bias towards horses that can run well on the inside, as well as those with previous experience at this venue. Additionally, I have given priority to horses based on the jockey who will be riding them, as certain jockeys have demonstrated their expertise on this track. Furthermore, horses that are trained at this location tend to have an advantage. Follow my multi below for a fun betting option to track on race day at Geelong!

Best Promotions for Geelong Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
