Friday Racing Tips - Ipswich Racecourse 11/08/23

Queensland racing sees an eight race card come to Ipswich racecourse and there are a bunch of competitive races in what is set to be great contests up north in mixed grades. There is just the two Maiden races, which follow the 800m BM70 that kicks off the card and then mixed distances with the staying race in race four being the only true staying contest of the day. I have found quite a few decent betting spots on the card and am keen to get stuck into things so follow me below for a solid Friday of racing at Ipswich!

BEST BET - #7 - Underhand (BEST BET)
Underhand surely makes it three from three here to kick off the card for the O’Dea / Hoystead camp off the back of two very sharp wins over the 860m at Gatton. Both of the runs have seen him forced to post wide and both have seen him run his legs off but he does look like a true sprinter and I think with the big claim from Lang as well as already getting in light he’s going to be tough to beat here. He gets in at just 51kg, maps to find the front or near it from barrier two and there’s not much more to it.

THE DANGER - #5 - Shalaa's Moment 
Shalaa’s Moment is another O’Dea / Hoystead representative who is currently running favourite and has only been putting in solid performances since coming to the stable earlier this year. He won in his first outing for the stable over this distanced at Dalby and has since been running over further where he has been far from disgraced but looks very well suited coming back to this trip and will be better for his first outing at this track which came in his most recent run over the 1100m. Top chance with Thompson aboard.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Tropics 
Tropics rates highly against these at his best and I think that he likely will find something near that second up now for the Jokic stable. He resumed from a thirteen week spell about a month ago at this track and trip where he did lots of nice early work to cross and lead before his first up condition just gave way and he was eased out of it late. He will take a big fitness benefit off that run and has won at this track / trip before and has multiple wins at this distance. Definite overs with Thornton aboard.

BEST BET - #6 - Outa Taormina
These don’t look like the most talented bunch and as such Outa Taormina really sticks out here for the Townsend stable. She debuted for the stable off of a 25 week spell last time out under Alisha Donald who gave her a great steer when setting second and two wide in the run and looked to come on strongly but just plugged in the straight and was able to hold third placing in a big field. Donald sticks and as such Taormina gets in at just 53.5kg and will be a lot fitter for that first up run and have plenty to offer here. I think she takes this out.

THE DANGER - #2 - Kellisa 
Kellisa should improve sharply here for Kelly Schweida as the stable has been absolutely flying at the moment and I think that whilst she didn’t show a fortune on debut she was running in higher grade than this in town and whilst she was never a winning shot I liked the way that she found the line from deep in the run to finish just outside the placegetters. She will be fitter now and her run style is suited to stepping out on this trip. Will be in the finish no doubt.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Chayse 'N' Adam (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)  
I think that Chayse ‘N’ Adam is going a lot better than it reads on paper and should be hard fit now coming into this third up and with something to offer in this field after two debut runs. Both of them have come at the Sunshine Coast where his debut saw him set back in the field before starting a big run in line with the winner where his first up condition told and he faded late. He then stepped out again at the Sunshine Coast where he took a big knock at the start and was never in the race from there so can be forgiven for that effort. He will be hard fit now third up, better for his two runs back and sure to run well here in a beatable field.

BEST BET - #2 - Hyde (NEXT BEST)
Hyde hasn’t put in a bad effort in fourteen career starts for Annabel Neasham, having won three and placed in another four and generally doesn’t take much to get going. He resumed off of a Seventeen week spell after going away a Sunshine Coast winner earlier this year and resumed over the 1350m at Doomben where he put in a solid showing after missing the jump and working hard all run to finish just behind the placegetters in fourth. He’s got a win and a close second placing in two second up runs and looks astutely placed in this field to go over now second up.

THE DANGER - #6 - Where Ya Bean 
Where Ya Bean looks like the main threat in this field and I think he can hit hard here for Stephanie Dwyer. He resumed off of an eighteen week spell in the same race as Hyde at Doomben where he set fifth and three wide in the run and still had a good kick in the straight despite the tough run and powered home to fight into second place. That tough run will have him much fitter for this assignment and with natural improvement second uop I think he only runs well here.

VALUE BET - #4 - Show Me Your Love 
Show Me Your Love should be at just about his peak now for Kris Lees third up here and can improve sharply here. He’s had two runs back from a spell, the first of which coming in much tougher company at Eagle Farm where he looked good in the run until being held up on the straight and when he got clear air he didn’t have much to offer before going out at this course last time where he was held up multiple times for a run. I think he will be fitter yet still for that effort and will be set to peak here third up.
