BEST BET - #4 - Redsnap
Big field and competitive race to close out the day here at Ipswich and whilst there are a few key chance I think that where they settle in the run and the jockey bookings are going to be the differential points in this race. Due to that I am keen on Redsnap who is making his racing debut for the Smerdon camp after coming there earlier this year and he looks ready to fire off the back of some nice trial efforts. He’s proven first up with a win and two close placings in five first up runs and I think that he lobs onto the speed and will be hard to run down there with Mallyon aboard.
THE DANGER - #3 - Where's Tekay Now
Another astutely placed Currie runner on the card and I can’t discount any of their chances. Where’s Tekay Now looks to have a bit of class about him having already won three and placed runner up in two of his nine starts and seems to have hit serious form of late. All of his runs this prep have come at Toowoomba and the most recent of which saw him find the rail and lead, with a big kick in the straight to keep the field safely at bay and win. That was over 1300m and based on his run style back 100m will only aid his cause to stay out front. Hard fit, Thompson on for the ride, good gate, lots to like…
VALUE BET - #9 - Mishani Conman (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Mishani Conman is a Les Ross representative and I can never discount any of the stable’s runners, especially when placed in Queensland. This particular runner has been running at Beaudesert lately and whilst he has displayed talent in his runs he just hasn’t been able to put it all together. Last time out he began well, crossed over and set two wide with the leaders and managed to stick on in the straight but faded badly late. He gets in very light with the claim from Lang and I think that will be the key to him being able to sustain a hot speed out front. Don’t treat lightly.
