Friday Racing Tips - Ipswich Racecourse 28/07/23

Queensland is set for a bumper eight race card tomorrow at Ipswich racecourse and I am very keen on this meeting as we see a mixed contest between some Benchmark grade races, open races and maiden races that feature the top Queensland stables putting forward what looks to be some super progressive types that will surely feature in the Spring. Follow me below as I outline the entire Ipsiwch race card and pick out my best betting spots!

Ipswich R1 - Strive To Be Kind Day Mdn Hcp (800m)

Selections:
#5 - Janean (BEST BET)  - $3.10
#3 - Tenby - $3.40
#1 - Fast Fusion - $4.80
#4 - On The Target - $4.80

BEST BET - #5 - Janean (BEST BET)
Small field here for the Maiden race sprint to kick the card off this Friday and I think that Janean is a good thing going and will likely make this a winning debut at her home base. Currie has this runner right to fire first up as is often the case with his first starters and this does look the right set up for a soft kill. He trialled on the Toowoomba inner two weeks back over the 650m where he displayed a really nice stride and ran a fast time out front. I don’t think there’s too much more to it, he likely goes well here.

THE DANGER - #3 - Tenby
Beware Jimmy Orman in the opener… Mike Nolan is another who trains just outside of Ipsiwch and has brought a few interesting runners for this card and Tenby looks like a good shot here to go over on debut. He trialled on the Toowoomba Inner on the same day as Janean and whilst he did the 650m a bit slower than Janean I think they were riding him reasonably quiet and he still moved along nicely.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Fast Fusion
Fast Fusion is one of the few in this field with runs on the board and can break through now here third up, fit and looking very close to a win. He debuted over this track/trip two months ago and it was an impressive run to overcome being held up at a crucial time in the straight and closed the race off powerfully to come second. He then stepped out to a 1000m Sunshine Coast sprint that saw him again power home into second from just off the speed. He now find a much smaller field and should be afforded every chance in the run.

Ipswich R5 - Precinct Urban Planning (Bm62) (800m)

Selections:
#3 - Cabrinella (NEXT BEST) - $3.60
#8 - Idoneus - $4.00
#2 - Thawra - $6.50
#1 - Gossip Torque - $4.80

BEST BET - #3 - Cabrinella (NEXT BEST)
Cabrinella looks like a moral in this field from barrier one over the track / trip he loves the most. He raced last time out at Eagle Farm when taking a step up to Metro Grade and drew a bad barrier there and was never able to get in the run from deep and wide so can be forgiven for that and retains fitness off of that effort. Before then he ran a close third over this track and trip and put two sharp wins together prior to that. He’s got two wins and a placing at this track / trip, is hard fit and gets in at 57kg after Wheelers’ claim. Tough to beat.

THE DANGER - #8 - Idoneus
Idoneus is a very nice horse for Kelly Schweida and I think that if he can get far enough in front of Cabrinella, which he very well has the ability to, he can take this out. He’s had three runs this time in since resuming from a 17 week spell and has improved in each of them. He picked up a nice win second up over this track and trip where he got way too far in front of them for the field to run him down before racing again at this track / trip where he finished behind an impressive Ditmas who looks to be onto Saturday racing now. Top chance.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Thawra
There’s not an awful lot of value in this race but sticking to the philosophy that I outlined in the tips for the race above in that Currie is sending an assault to Ipswich tomorrow. Thawra is the representative for the stable in this race and whilst he has been just outside of the placings in his last two he has been clocking some splits that read very well for this and can break through here. Last time out he ran in an 870m race at Toowoomba when he came from last and two wide in the run to start a big run home and passed half the field. I like the way he was finding the line then and with a run that sees him settle a touch closer he will be in the finish.

Ipswich R8 - Pennywise Hcp (62) (1200m)

Selections:
#4 - Redsnap - $7.00
#3 - Where's Tekay Now- $6.50
#16 - Hue - $7.50
#9 - Mishani Conman (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $11.00

BEST BET - #4 - Redsnap
Big field and competitive race to close out the day here at Ipswich and whilst there are a few key chance I think that where they settle in the run and the jockey bookings are going to be the differential points in this race. Due to that I am keen on Redsnap who is making his racing debut for the Smerdon camp after coming there earlier this year and he looks ready to fire off the back of some nice trial efforts. He’s proven first up with a win and two close placings in five first up runs and I think that he lobs onto the speed and will be hard to run down there with Mallyon aboard.

THE DANGER - #3 - Where's Tekay Now
Another astutely placed Currie runner on the card and I can’t discount any of their chances. Where’s Tekay Now looks to have a bit of class about him having already won three and placed runner up in two of his nine starts and seems to have hit serious form of late. All of his runs this prep have come at Toowoomba and the most recent of which saw him find the rail and lead, with a big kick in the straight to keep the field safely at bay and win. That was over 1300m and based on his run style back 100m will only aid his cause to stay out front. Hard fit, Thompson on for the ride, good gate, lots to like…

VALUE BET - #9 - Mishani Conman (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Mishani Conman is a Les Ross representative and I can never discount any of the stable’s runners, especially when placed in Queensland. This particular runner has been running at Beaudesert lately and whilst he has displayed talent in his runs he just hasn’t been able to put it all together. Last time out he began well, crossed over and set two wide with the leaders and managed to stick on in the straight but faded badly late. He gets in very light with the claim from Lang and I think that will be the key to him being able to sustain a hot speed out front. Don’t treat lightly.

Jockey Of The Day – James Orman

If you’ve been following me for a bit you know how much love I have for Jimmy Orman who gets a nice booking of rides for tomorrow’s meeting and I think we should see him go over on at least one of them. R2 - #5 - Kalea - $7.50
R3 - #1 - Clairvue Star  - $2.20
R5 - #9 - Mishani Sniper - $1.95

Multi Tips For Ipswich Racecourse

I have applied a similar strategy for my multi at Ipswich to that of my midweek Multi at Warwick farm as I have tipped a lot in the earlier races I think there are a few standout types in these lower grade races who have been carefully placed by their stables for ratings purposes and who look to be moving onto Metro grade racing in the future. With a bit of luck I think we should be in the money here early on, follow me below for a fun bet to track over race day!

Best Promotions for Ipswich Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
