Friday Racing Tips - Kempsey Racecourse 10/11/23

Racing returns to the Kempsey for a big Friday meeting and we have eight races on the card for a share of $282k prize money in total with a few high level contests and the Akubra Hats Kempsey Cup being the feature of the day. There looks to be some progressive VIC and outer state stable runners and I am keen to see how they go so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots of the day at Kempsey.

BEST BET - #2 - Strobing (BEST BET)
Strobing rates highly off the back of his last start win in the Taree Kraumbach Cup and I think with the big claim he gets from Fitzgerald he likely runs up to that effort here. He sat behind the speed over the mile there before shifting out at the right time to let down well in the last 100m and fend off any challengers. I think he rates well getting out in trip now and should be hard to run down again.

THE DANGER - #1 - Roller Coaster
Roller Coaster takes on a stack of weight here but is the class horse of this field and that alone should carry him quite far. He comes out of the Cessnock Cup at Newcastle a few weeks back where he got a nice trail wide behind the speed in and looked to start a big run in the straight but just couldn’t get there behind the winner and runner up when grinding away into third. Top chance now.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Chocolatier
Chocolatier gets in here super light at limit weight and that should carry him quite well for this assignment. His last two runs have seen him come very close, placing runner up in both and now gets his chance with Nock on and just 53kg on his back. I think he runs well here and will watch what the market does with him.

BEST BET - #3 - Uncaged
This looks like a two horse affair and I am keen to be on the side of Uncaged for the Buchanan stable. He comes into this third up and having not seen racing for about a month since running home powerfully behind a smart winner in Distinctive Glory at Tamworth where he was very green in the last few hundred meters, shifting around in the straight. He’s had a trial and some time away to sharpen him up and with good manners now he wins this.

THE DANGER - #1 - Cassia Lane
Cassia Lane is an honest horse for the Shelton stable who draws perfectly here and gets Wadick on as well as a claim from him and I doubt he runs poorly here. He’s had just the one run since resuming off of a 16 week spell and did good work there when sitting on the rail behind the speed and taking over at the 100m to power away for a strong win. Should be sharp here.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Piccolo Ponti (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Piccolo Ponti returned to racing well and should be strong here second up with natural improvement. He resumed off of a 17 week spell at Grafton when being trapped near the rear of the field and posted three wide and still produced a brave effort to run on well just behind the placegetters in a big field. Will be fitter and all the better for that run and I think he rates above his pricetag here.

BEST BET - #8 - Bantarki (NEXT BEST)
Pretty good edition of this race but it is hard to see Bantarki running poorly here after producing sharp efforts in his three starts this time in for the Ball stable. He won his resumption run before getting no luck two back and then atoning last time out with another very sharp win where he got a nice trail in behind the speed before taking over and jetting away to win well over the 1250m at Taree. Looks well placed here and the step up in distance should suit him well.

THE DANGER - #7 - Touch Of Navy 
Touch Of Navy has been going very close in his recent starts and with Andrew Gibbons on he should get a few favours here. His last two runs have seen him finish runner up with the last being a bob of the heads finish over the 1500m where he ran very boldly to only just miss in an unsuccessful protest where he was held up at a key stage. Should be on the ball here.

VALUE BET - #4 - Little Prophet
Little Prophet seems to have gotten going well and I don’t think he will be slowing down now. His last start saw him control the race from out front and slip away in the straight for a dominant win when not being challenged at all. Rolls retains the ride and I think he will be sharp here undoubtedly.
