Friday Racing Tips - Kilmore Racecourse 27/01/23

Friday racing returns to Kilmore off the back of an exciting card two weeks ago and there’s a pretty strong card to take us into the end of the month with nine races and $243,000 prize evenly split across them. I think that with the majority of races being under the 1600m or less we should have an exciting day of racing at Kilmore ahead.

BEST BET - #12 - Motitsi - (BEST BET)
Motitsi seems like the stable have been patiently letting her improve at the races. She has had a successful prep and is shooting to win with two second placings in three runs. Last time out she didn’t live up to expectations and whilst the time was still decent she really didn’t have excuses there. I think she is hard fit and keeps improving, Holland aboard is a positive and I look forward to seeing what the stable can produce on race day.

THE DANGER - #3 - Hercules Morse 
Hercules Morse resumes from a long spell after not doing anything on debut at Ballarat late in 2021. Maher and Eustace picked him up after then and have had a long time to prepare him since. John Allen jumps aboard and whilst he draws out wide I think that is the only reason I am prepared to take him on as it is quite a big handicap at this track/distance.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Elderslie (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Elderslie is a Peter Moody debutant under Carleen Hefel who gets in light, draws well and is racing from an extremely prominent stable that has been in monster form lately. These two often combine on good three year olds and Elderslie must be respected here.

BEST BET - #6 - Schiller Effect (BEST BET) 
Schiller Effect has been flying this prep and takes the step up now in grade and distance third up. On debut at Terang he was second of fourteen in an impressive return over the 1200m before going to Werribee and winning easily as an odds on fav. He steps up to the 1600m third up now and draws well, if he can handle the weight he takes this out.

THE DANGER - #1 - Frankie Two Angels
Frankie Two Angels looked really solid last time out at Geelong over the 1543m, he showed a good turn of foot and kicked off hard on the straight to only just go down late to what looks like a progressive horse. He will be hard fit now and can prove if he is genuine or not.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Judiciary 
Judiciary comes into this race also third up after scoring first up at Benalla over the 1400m and really taught them a lesson about sprinting, laying out in the straight there. He was nowhere next run at Geelong and from what I have seen he didn’t recover that well after that first run. They’ve given him some time now and if he is physically up for it he can take this out. One to watch for in the yard.

BEST BET - #9 - Karatemiss (NEXT BEST)
Karatemiss looks to be a really smart type who has hit peak condition and form now after a third up run at Geelong over the 1350m. She was held up multiple times on the straight there and still weaved through for a smart second placing. The time reads well for the day and she would have won that race if she wasn’t interfered with. I am happy to give her another chance today

THE DANGER - #4. Shalaga 
Shalaga is the obvious danger in this race as he comes into this second up off a short let up. Before then he was racing well with a win and placing in three runs and has resumed nicely, running a fast third placing at Stawell a few weeks back over the 1300m. He looks well suited to go one better here.

VALUE BET - #6 - Dexa Bill 
Dexa Bill drops back in grade here and looks well placed in this field. He resumed at the races at Sandown in BM70 company and didn’t do much there in a slowly run race, running a decent time for that day’s meeting. However, before then he picked up back to back wins in BM64 grade and that can’t be forgotten, it reads well here. I think that with some luck in running he can win this.

John allen has been in form this year with a 40% place rate and a 20% win rate. He gets a nice booking of rides on some horses that I am backing and some other good chances and I think he is the best chance to take out the TAB jockey challenge.
