Friday Racing Tips - Moonee Valley Racecourse 03/11/23

Big racing under the lights returns to Moonee Valley this Friday night and I am keen for the card we have for our Friday night entertainment prior to the huge listed racing we have set for tomorrow. There are eight competitive races on the card, all for a share of $60k and we should see some very competitive fields step out tomorrow. I have picked out the three best betting spots for myself and outlined them below. Follow me for my best bets at Moonee Valley!

BEST BET - #3 - Linas Reel (BEST BET)
Lightly raced field here and I think that Peter Moody’s Linas Reel is a fair favourite here. He debuted at Moe over the mile where he was very impressive, chasing hard throughout the entire run and really starting to come on strongly at the 400m before being held up from then until the 200m where he burst through again with clear air to place second in an effort that really should have seen him win. I think he will improve into this only second up into his career and am keen to see how he goes here.

THE DANGER - #4 -  Perovic
Perovic should be approaching peak fitness here and can make start three a winning one for Danny O’Brien. He’s had two runs this time in and seemed to have improved well between then when last stepping out at Seymour over this distance to beat all but the winner and now comes here hard fit, good gate and ready to win.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Tosinsky
Tosinsky is a Chris Alderson runner who has only had the one career start but it was a smart debut and I think he is one to follow. He stepped out over the 1200m at Mornington for his debut where he improved throughout the run to settle fourth along the rails and box on steadily to the line in an effort that saw him finish just behind the winner. Big jump up to 1600m now but the stable wouldn’t do so unless they thought he could handle it.

BEST BET - #1 - Prancing Spirit (NEXT BEST) 
It’s hard to go past Phillip Stokes’ Prancing Spirit who was meant to be slammed at the weights to not be a winning chance here but with the big claim from Bull she’s right back in it at 60kg. She’s already putting together quite the record with three wins and four placings in her eight start career and comes into this flying after putting together two runner up placings at Sandown and Mornington and then going out last start at Pakenham and saluting dominantly. Well placed to win again.

THE DANGER - #4 - Gin O'clock
Very interesting runner that I am giving respect to is the Irish import Gin O’clock for the Hayes boys. He had the two runs in Ireland back at the end of 2021 where he won and came runner up before being brought over here and obviously is coming off a very long break but the way he smashed them two weeks ago when winning a Tatura trial was very impressive and I think he goes well here.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Ledecky's Dream
Another horse I have plenty of time for is Ledecky’s Dream who steps out for Peter Moody here third up and I think having found a winnable contest. He has had two runs back from a twenty three week spell, the most recent of which saw him step out three weeks between runs at at Sale over the 1110m where he took over at the 250m, looked the winner and then just went down late. Should be strong at the end here and is only fitter now.

BEST BET - #5 - Corner Off
Competitive BM70 race we have here and I think we will see a few of these progressing onto Saturday grade races but I am keen to stick with the favourite here in Corner Off who has been absolutely flying since coming to Archie Alexander. He’s had two runs since coming over to the stable and hasn’t put in a bad effort in either. He won when resuming at Seymour before putting in another great run last time out here where he overcame a tough run to beat all but the winner who had the gun run and I think third up now, hard fit, he will be tough to beat.

THE DANGER - #7 - Ferlazzo
Ferlazzo is a smart horse for the Price / Kent stable who is the class of the field here and certainly has what it takes to measure up. He hasn’t been seen at the races since mid June where he raced as favourite and disappointed there when only able to place third. However, he has a very strong fresh record and comes into this off of a smart Jumpout at Ballarat. Well placed.

VALUE BET - #4 - Funzelle (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Funzelle has a very good second up record and I think looks well placed here for Peter Moody. He resumed off of a long 23 week spell when having to sit three deep and wide and still overcame that very tough run when fighting hard to the line and clocking some great late splits to power home into the runner up placing and now comes into this with a softer draw, fitter and better for the run and I am keen to see how he goes here.
