Friday Racing Tips - Moonee Valley Racecourse 09/02/24

Racing returns to Moonee Valley for a belter half a million dollar Friday night race card and I am very excited for this race day as the quality of racing really starts to rise in Australia as the Autumn Group 1 races season kicks off this Saturday. I have gone across the card and picked out my best betting spots and outlined them below so follow me!

#4 - Justifiable Award (NEXT BEST) - $3.60
#5 - Perfect Ending - $5.50
#8 - Born Hustler - $6.50
#7 - Walk Of Fame - $8.50

BEST BET - #4 - Justifiable Award (NEXT BEST) 
Justifiable Award is pretty hard to knock for the Vidotto stable here after the way he has been running since coming back from a 20 week spell. He returned with a bang off of a 20 week spell at Mornington when leading along the fence and kicking away from the field before again stepping out at Mornington where he got an A1 ride and proved too strong for them again. This is an honest contest but I think he steps up to it.

THE DANGER - #5 - Perfect Ending
Perfect ending has to rate as a winning chance for the Cumani camp coming here third up from a spell and approaching his peak. He’s had two runs back from a 31 week spell and has improved sharply between them. He last stepped out at Mornington when jumping awkwardly but recovering through the run and fighting hard to the line to place second. He looks set to peak here.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Born Hustler 
Born Hustler seems to have been sent here with a lot of intent for Danny O’Brien and I think the booking of Jamie Kah signals a lot of intent. He’s had a bunch of runs this campaign but has been afforded considered breaks between them and has been constantly running well and now comes here off the back of a 2 week break between runs and rates highly.

BEST BET - #1 - Andouillette
Andouillette has had a flying start to his career for Anthony and Sam Freedman with three wins and a placing from four runs and comes here third up off the back of a 15 week and having won two runs back. Both of the wins have come at Wangaratta over the 1000m and he steps out to some tougher competition now but I think he’s up to the task.

THE DANGER - #4 - Dakota Lee 
Dakota Lee has been an absolutely lethal horse for the McEvoy’s winning all seven of his career starts when in New Zealand before being sold to the McEvoy’s and now finally makes his Australian debut after having not been seen at the races since the beginning of 2022 when last winning at Pioneer Park. He’s had a couple sharp trials to lead him back into racing and rates as one of the leading contenders here.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Ice Symphony (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Ice Symphony comes back to racing off of a 17 week spell and having his first start for Symon Wilde and I think has been placed with a bit of intent here given the booking of Blake Shinn. He’s already recorded two wins and a couple sharp placings in his 13 career starts and based on the way he ran in a Geelong trial two weeks back he should be very sharp here.

BEST BET - #9 - Shaime (BEST BET)
You would have to think that Shaime is the leading contender here for the Brown camp fourth up after running a bunch of close and sharp placings. He last stepped out over the 1200m at Flemington when finding the front inside the 200m and fighting hard to the line. He’s in peak form and deserves a win now,

THE DANGER - #5 - Moesha
Moesha has had a very solid start to his career for Peter Moody and comes back to racing now off of a 15 week spell and having placed here with at least some intent given he has had no public trials for this assignment but gets the booking of Nolen and given how he has run in his short career I think he only goes well here.

VALUE BET - #11 - Kiko
Kiko has had three runs back from a long 27 week spell and comes here and won well two back at Cranbourne two back over the 1200m when sitting three wide the trip and still proving too strong for the field. He then took a three week break before stepping out in Saturday grade at Flemington where he didn’t get the easiest of runs but still ran home respectably. He drops back in depth now and comes here hard fit.
