Friday Racing Tips - Moonee Valley Racecourse 27/10/23

Night racing returns to Moonee Valley for the second week of the Season and I am keen to be back here for another great eight race card. There are a bunch of competitive fields with some very progressive looking horses who look set to have big preps to come as the Group 1 races season approaches its peak. As usual I have run through the race card and picked out a best bet, next best and outside chance of the day so follow me below as I outline the day at Moonee Valley!

BEST BET - #3 - She Dances (BEST BET) 
She Dances looks like a smart leading contender here for the Moody and Coleman stable and comes into this third up and already firing and I think she looks well placed to get her next stakes win now. She comes off the back of the Group three Northwood Plume Stks at Caulfield where she found the front at the 150m and never let go of it, being strong through the line in winning. Staying at this distance is the query but I think she undoubtedly puts in another good shift now.

THE DANGER - #1 - Lombardo
Lombardo looks like a smart horse who is on the right path for the Price / Kent stable and comes off the back of this after resuming in the Schillaci stakes at Caulfield where he was against the shape of the race and still ran on very well behind Asfoora. He likes racing here and takes a huge step back in depth here. Will be prominent no doubt.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Ranges
Ranges resumes in this race after not having been seen since The Ramornie at Grafton where he ran on well behind The Big Goodbye but I don’t think this race is out of reach for him. He generally goes well fresh and the stable is very astute with placing their first up runners. He’s had two trials to ready him for this race and I think he runs well here.

BEST BET - #5 - Ain’tnodeeldun
Ain’tnodeeldun is absolutely flying and I think has earned his crack at this level of competition. He won two races back over the mile and then stepped out the 1800m at Sandown last time out where he let them get a way in front before letting down powerfully to smash them there. He’s two from two at The Valley as well and I think he can take this out now and get the listed win under the belt.

THE DANGER - #3 - Forgot You
Forgot You is a smart horse who goes very well at this track and I think looks well placed here. He ran in the Might And Power which reads very well for this when finishing a few lengths behind the monster Alligator Blood and he had excuses there when pulling up with some issues post race. His efforts before read more than well enough for this and I think he can hit back hard here.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Bank Maur (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Bank Maur comes into this with a bunch of upside after running in the Turnbull where he did things very tough early, running his legs off out front and then fading down the track behind Gold Trip at the 400m. If he can settle a bit more earlier in the run I think he will have plenty in the tank for them late.

BEST BET - #14 - Lunar Flare (NEXT BEST)
Lunar Flare looks like a deserving favourite for the Begg stable here and I am happy to have something on her at this price on his way to the Melbourne Cup. He gets in with absolutely no weight on her back for this and that should carry her far. She returned in the Turnbull where she found the line very strongly in defeat behind Gold Trip and loves racing here. She’ll be fitter as well now, ready for the trip, lots to like.

THE DANGER - #3 - Vow And Declare
Vow And Declare is just an amazing animal that keeps finding form every prep and is on his way to another Melbourne Cup. He last ran in the Might And Power where I thought he was very impressive late in the piece when finishing second to Alligator Blood. He has plenty of upside coming into this and that alone should carry him far here.

VALUE BET - #12 - Cleveland
Cleveland is a smart horse for Chris Waller who I think is as honest a chance as any to take this out. He comes out of the ATC ST Leger stakes where he ran very well and took over at the 800m and really got going at the 300m but was just outstayed by the eventual winner late when second there. He comes back 200m in distance now and with hard fitness I think he runs a race here.
