Friday Racing Tips - Orange Racecourse 19/04/24

Racing returns to Orange this Friday for a great eight race card and we have $340,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in NSW this Friday evening as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

BEST BET - #1 - Joey D'or (NEXT BEST)
Joey D’or could be a milk drinker but I think he gets one more look from me here after being scratched from Thursday’s meeting at the Hawkesbury. He’s had five runs for the Baker camp and has looked awfully close to winning in a bunch of them but I think after the way he won a Rosehill trial the other week he’s going to come back with plenty of intent here. He looks a good opening bet to the card.

THE DANGER - #2 - Kewell
Kewell sees a similar set up to Joey D’or here. He comes back to racing off of a 20 week spell and having placed in two of his four career starts and was also a dual acceptor for the Hawkesbury meeting but now having been scratched in favour of this I think he has to be respected coming here. He’s got the benefit of a very nice second placed trial at the Hawkesbury a week ago and he will be tuned up for this.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Commando Jack
Commando Jack now finds himself with the Smith camp and whilst he is an Eleven start maiden he comes way back in depth relative to some of the assignments he attempted to contest earlier in his career. He now comes back to a country circuit and has had the benefit of a 28 week spell to be worked on in the paddock under David Smith. His recent jumpouts have been good enough for me to give him a look here.

BEST BET - #1 - D'oro Choice 
Competitive race here with plenty of chances and I think that D’oro Choice goes narrowly on top coming back to his home course. He also looks to relish staying at this trip after stepping out to this distance at Dubbo when he was nearly a month between runs and still ran home well into midfield. The win at the start prior was sharp, he’s been turned around faster with more intent now and he should be strong with the claim from Stanley.

THE DANGER - #9 - All So Easy (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
One who I am watching closely to see what the market does with is All So Easy for the Smart camp. This girl came off of a three week break from racing when third up at the Sapphire Coast last time out and doing heaps of work after missing the start to recover through the run and prove too strong for them there. That was an effort that I think rates very highly for this and with more upside to come I am keen to have something on her come jump.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Kalpana
Kaplana looks like a pretty progressive horse for the Grieg camp with a good record over this trip (12: 3-2-2) and I think that off of his recent starts, combined with getting in light with a claimer aboard, he has to be respected here. He most recently ran a 2200m Dubbo race where he was brilliant from on the speed, only finding one better late and prior to then did the same over this trip at Dubbo. He Comes here hard fit and in form, go well at odds.

BEST BET - #7 - Up To Mischief (BEST BET)  
Two days in a row I am tipping in a getout race and as much as I was keen to tip in the feature race of the day tomorrow I just think that a Ciaron Maher horse that is as well placed as this girl is would be foolish to ignore. She was only having her second career start at Mudgee off of a 23 week break last time out over the 1100m when blitzing the field and remaining undefeated and now comes here just shy of three weeks between runs and as long as she can overcome second up syndrome I think she wins this.

THE DANGER - #5 - De Forerunner
De Forerunner has a solid second up record with two runner up placings in three second up runs and I think that he will be strong here after a complete forgive run at Kembla Grange last time out where he was first up and led along the fence, looking very strong in his stride before his first up condition just gave way late and he faded into midfield. He will be a lot sharper here and can improve well into this. 

VALUE BET - #10 - Successful 
Successful has shaped up to be a nice horse for the Freedman’s and now comes back from a 20 week spell and making her debut at the course here. She went away after placing behind Rapbidash at Newcastle which reads very well for this and now comes here after two trials at Rosehill where Gould was with her for both and she sticks for start one. Watch what the market does with her.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside.
