BEST BET - #4 - Graewazi
Graewazi is a juvenile for the Jerome Hunter stable that I really liked the look of at the Jumpouts and is bred very well. He’s a half brother to Barb Raider, the twice G2 winner and has shown quite a lot already in her few Jumpouts. The most recent of which was two back at Mornington over the 900m where she showed great speed to motor to the lead and hold them all at bay. Cartwright is on and can’t see them running badly here.
THE DANGER - #5 - Graysong
It’s pretty hard to ignore the Mick Price and Michael Kent trained Graysong who is returning here off of a long 22 week spell after just the two run debut prep and looks very astutely placed here. He was a $160,000 yearling who’s dam won the Rupert Clarke and he showed plenty of promise in his first prep when placing in back to back runs in town. He won an 800m Cranbourne Jumpout recently where he trucked along and looks good for the return now.
VALUE BET - #12 - Dowager Duchess (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Dowager Duchess is representing the mighty Waterhouse / Bott stable for this assignment under Wiremu Pinn and she has been trialling very nicely for this assignment. She’s a well bred filly who will likely attempt to lead from barrier one and based on her most recent two trials, which have had a combined three subsequent winners emerge, it could be a winning strategy. She won a Randwick trial two back where she showed good speed to motor up underneath them and kept finding the line nicely before being quietly ridden in her last trial. I suspect the most recent was for fitness and I would be keeping a close eye on her.
