Friday Racing Tips - Scone Racecourse 14/07/23

Racing returns to Scone racecourse this Friday and we have been having some great success at the track in its recent Friday meetings and I am keen to pick up some more winners here tomorrow. We have a solid eight race card at the track tomorrow that kicks off with three maiden races and is followed by a handful of exciting Benchmark grade races with most to be contested for a share of $30k prize money. As usual I have run through the Scone race card and picked out my best bets for the day so follow me below for another exciting day of racing!

Scone R2 - Muswellbrook Ford Mdn Plate (1600m)

Selections:
#2 - Kaisa - $2.00
#5 - The Coat Hanger - $9.00
#1 - Lord Cat (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)- $11.00
#3 - Priding - $8.50

BEST BET - #2 - Kaisa
Kaisa looks like the straight bat option in this early maiden race and he probably shouldn’t be a maiden any longer. The Lou Mary trained runner resumed off of a long twenty week spell at this track two weeks ago and seems to have come back in fine order when getting a nice trail wide behind the speed before starting a big run in the straight to only find one better in the fitter / further in prep Omians. Bullock retains the ride, meets a similarly soft field and he should be too strong for them late here with the added fitness now.

THE DANGER - #5 - The Coat Hanger
The Coat Hanger should be dangerous here third up and is working up to shedding the maiden tag well. He resumed off of a thirteen week break when leading along the rail and being swamped on the line by almost the whole field to finish ninth but really not beaten by much. He then went even better last time out a couple weeks ago at Muswellbrook when being caught wide early but still having a strong run in the straight to only go down late into third. He maps for a softer run this time in and with Buckley on in the small field I doubt they run badly.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Lord Cat (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Lord Cat should have plenty of upside here and is one of the more interesting runners of the race. He is a very lightly raced three year old for Rodney Northam who debuted back at the end of last year but had some issues and was sent back to the paddock until two weeks ago when he resumed at Mudgee over the 1200m and sat three wide with cover behind the speed, battling down the straight out wide but not coming on in what was a tough and taxing effort. He should be much fitter and better for that run, maps to be a lot closer and I think he can surprise at odds here.

Scone R4 - Bengalla Coal Plate (C1) (1600m)

Selections:
#5 - Martedi (BEST BET) - $3.00
#7 - Ollie's Secret - $11.00
#6 - Mickey's Pride - $11.00
#13 - Omians - $11.00

BEST BET - #5 - Martedi (BEST BET)
The monstrous Messara / Bullock combination is represented by Martedi in this race who, on ratings alone, looks like she should be far too strong for these albeit the danger from a few lightly raced horses that should have upside here but so does she. She has won or placed in her three starts to date and last time out she sat outside the leader and took over at the 200m to just find one better very late who came on flying from the tail of the field and looked a smart type. His run style looks suited to the step up in distance and it’s going to take a very good thing to beat him.

THE DANGER - #7 - Ollie's Secret
Ollie’s Secret should be nearing peak third up here for the Bowen stable. He resumed off a long 24 week spell at Newcastle two back at the beginning of last month when getting a nice trail behind the speed but the long layoff told late when he just whacked away in the straight. He obviously took a nice benefit from that run as last time out he got a similar trail behind the speed before starting a powerful run to only be claimed on the line by the ultra progressive Canoli. That’s solid form for this and I think he only runs well here if he’s near the front on the turn.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Mickey's Pride
Mickey’s Pride can do a bit wrong at times but overall is still lightly raced, learning and improving for the super prominent Neasham camp and has resumed in good order. He won in the Heavy first up and has put together solid runs outside of the placings in his last two since. Last time out he missed the start pretty badly (a length and a half) but recovered through the run and got into a position to make heaps of late ground. I think if he is anywhere near the speed on the turn he will have heaps to offer here.

Scone R7 - Branxton Batteries (Bm58) (1100m)

Selections:
#4 - Pliskova (NEXT BEST) - $2.80
#6 - Divine Sinner - $4.20
#5 - Babayka - $5.50
#2 - Zoom Outcome - $15.00

BEST BET - #4 - Pliskova (NEXT BEST)
It is going to take a good thing to beat the Stephen Jones trained Pliskova who has won or come second in all of her four starts to date and last time out was resuming off a very long spell of fourty two weeks at Dubbo when her class was on display, cruising while sitting on the leaders heels before taking over and seemingly taking over with heaps to offer. You would think she sharply improves into this second up having had that run off the long break and I don’t see the 62kg she has to carry being enough to stop her here from barrier three.

THE DANGER - #6 - Divine Sinner
Divine Sinner looks well poised for Cameron Crockett to give Pliskova an honest crack here. The Crockett stable has to be respected at this track and Divine Sinner has barely put a foot wrong in four career starts, only not winning or being placed in one of them and looks to have returned to racing in great steed. he won over this track and trip last time out at the beginning of April and now has had a few sharp jumpouts and a recent trial in which I really liked the way he moved along quickly without being asked for too much. He can definitely resume as a winner here tomorrow.

VALUE BET - #5 - Babayka
Not a heap of value with this pick but if either of the favourites don’t fire or put a foot wrong I think that Babayka will be right there to smash them for Brett Cavanough. This runner resumed off of a long twenty five week spell last time out at Tamworth in a big field where he led from out wide and found plenty in the straight with just one runner who had the gun run passing him late. I think with the big upgrade to Morgan and a repercussive better ride as well as the upside second up he will be very strong here. I might have something on…

He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Scone Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

Multi Tips For Scone Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #1 - Lord Cat - PLC $2.60
R4 - #5 - Martedi - PLC $1.50
R7 - #4 - Pliskova  - PLC $1.45

Total Odds = $5.65
$50 Stake = $282.75 Return!

Best Promotions for Scone Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
