Friday Racing Tips - Scone Racecourse 30/06/23

Racing comes back to Scone this Friday since racing here for the Two Day Carnival a little while back and we have a great not so little nine race card that should see some very solid types go round and I am starting to get a bit of a feel for this track’s bias after coming here for a few meetings of late and have picked out a few runners in a few competitive races that look particularly good chances of going over tomorrow. I am keen to get stuck into it, the track is rated a soft 6, the rail is out +3m and the weather looks good so follow me below for a good riday’s racing at Scone!

Scone R1 - Muswellbrook Ford Mdn Plate (1600m)

Selections:
#11 - Tapa Kick (NEXT BEST) - $2.05
#2 - Deep Voyage - $3.10
#5 - Lord Finland - $8.50
#4 - Ideel Hero - $11.00

BEST BET - #11 - Tapa Kick (NEXT BEST)
Tapa Kick is a representative in the opener for the lethal Paul Messara & Aaron Bullock combination and I think that they are going to be very hard to beat in this field. There’s a bit of talent in this field but she meets almost all of them better at the weights due to her age and in her first two outings she has been ever so close to a win, running a solid 1.24 over the 1400m at Gunnedah on debut when just missing from a bold run out wide before coming to this track last time out when again just missing late when caught wide and coming on strongly down the straight. Small field, hard fit and with only one or two key dangers she will be hard to hold out.

THE DANGER - #2 - Deep Voyage
Deep Voyage is a progressive horse for Matty Smith who comes into this having had just the three career starts at the races and after taking a three week break from his second up run he came back to racing last time out at Kembla Grange, sitting two wide with cover before peeling three wide and starting a big run in the straight to just finish second place there in a tight go and did so in a bit of time as well. Hard fit now, more upside still and will be the main danger to Tapa Kick.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Lord Finland
Lord Finland made some big improvements third up for Luke Pepper when coming to this course last time out over the 1300m and he settled well back and wide there and was pushed even wide from the corner but I really like he found the line after shifting out on the track to start his run, clocking some great late splits and grabbing the minor placing there. He should be hard fit fourth up now, goes out to 1600m which looks positive given his run style and think he only goes well here.

Scone R3 - Scone Rsl (Bm66) (2200m)

Selections:
#2 - Tiva Bay (BEST BET)- $2.60
#7 - Jimmy Manolo - $3.40
#4 - Winter Thorn - $7.50
#1 - Yak - $6.50

BEST BET - #2 - Tiva Bay (BEST BET)
Hard to knock the Kris Lees trained Tiva Bay who is in career best form after being worked up towards this kind of form since the beginning of the year with ample and important breaks between runs to sustain her ability to race and yet stay fit. It seems to have all started to work out however as she put together three sharp and game second placings on the bounce, one of them at this track before racing at Tamworth last time out over the 2100m and grinded away all run for a brave last to first win. I think he will go on with it now and she will be tough to beat up 100m in trip and with McLellan retaining the ride.

THE DANGER - #7 - Jimmy Manolo
Jimmy Manolo scored at Nowra when resuming back at the beginning of April to racing over the 1600m and has been going pretty well since, being worked along with patient breaks in between and now seems to have hit a bit of form. He didn’t handle the heavy going two back before stepping onto a good Gunnedah track over the 2050m where he drifted back off the jump to the tail of the field and started to work into the race wide from the 600m to join the leaders on the corner and sustained that run to grab third. He’s had two trials since then and the latest of which saw him win in the Heavy going over the 2800m, Ashley Morgan retains the ride and think he goes close here.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Winter Thorn
Winter Thorn shouldn’t be disrespected here for Kris Lees. He’s third up off a short 10 week break from racing and looks to be getting fit now and sharper with each run. He resumed at Port Macquarie at the end of last month when very plain and just trucking along before going to Newcastle over the 2100m after a little three week break from the races where he started a run on the turn but faded late and just held ground there. He will be ready for this trip now, hard fit, looks to be working towards a win and has more to offer now.

Scone R5 - Newgate Hcp (C1) (900m)

Selections:
#1 - Sting Jet - $4.80
#8 - Perennial - $1.80
#4 - Outback Ringer (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.00
#3 - He's Purring - $26.00

BEST BET - #1 - Sting Jet
Sting Jet has an obvious query being first up for 16 weeks but takes a sharp drop in class for this assignment for Brett Cavanough and was going very well last time in, before being sent away for the spell. He offsets the top 61kg weight with a very smart 4kg claimer and whilst he hasn’t won first up before it doesn’t take him very long to get going at all generally and doesn’t have to deal with long distance at all here, is free running and can be too good for them here.

THE DANGER - #8 - Perennial
Perennial represents the ever dangerous Paul Messara and Aaron Bullock combination as the stale puts forward a few sharp two-year-olds for the day at Scone with Perennial being one of them. The debut run at the races came at the beginning of this month at Muswellbrook when racing over the 900m and was bumped at the start which saw her run two wide for the majority of the run but still finished best inside the last 150m to win clearly and dominantly. Stays at the trip and has probably been put here to boost ratings before going out to 1000m+ at some bigger courses and will be tough to beat.

VALUE BET - #4 - Outback Ringer (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
It would be a bad time to count out Outback Ringer as he seems to have hit a lovely patch of form in his last couple runs. He raced at Inverell in a pretty solid maiden at the beginning of the year when getting a nice trail behind the speed before angling into the clear and launching at them late to unluckily just grab the minor placing there and then returned at Armidale three weeks later to salute dominantly, controlling the race from the front and powering away from the turn. He didn’t beat much there but did it in a bit of time and has trialled nicely for his return, go close.

He has also received the Victoria Racing Club's Champion Jockey Award in two consecutive seasons (2019/20 and 2020/21), underscoring his reputation as one of Victoria's finest jockeys. He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Scone Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

R3 - #6 - Manhattan Thunder - $12.00
R5 - #4 - Toronto Terrier - $6.10

Multi Tips For Scone Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #4 - Good And Proper - PLC $2.20
R3 - #4 - She Dances - PLC $1.45
R5 - #9 - Running By - PLC $1.20

Total Odds = $3.82
$50 Stake = $191.40 Return!

Best Promotions for Scone Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
