BEST BET - #11 - Tapa Kick (NEXT BEST)
Tapa Kick is a representative in the opener for the lethal Paul Messara & Aaron Bullock combination and I think that they are going to be very hard to beat in this field. There’s a bit of talent in this field but she meets almost all of them better at the weights due to her age and in her first two outings she has been ever so close to a win, running a solid 1.24 over the 1400m at Gunnedah on debut when just missing from a bold run out wide before coming to this track last time out when again just missing late when caught wide and coming on strongly down the straight. Small field, hard fit and with only one or two key dangers she will be hard to hold out.
THE DANGER - #2 - Deep Voyage
Deep Voyage is a progressive horse for Matty Smith who comes into this having had just the three career starts at the races and after taking a three week break from his second up run he came back to racing last time out at Kembla Grange, sitting two wide with cover before peeling three wide and starting a big run in the straight to just finish second place there in a tight go and did so in a bit of time as well. Hard fit now, more upside still and will be the main danger to Tapa Kick.
VALUE BET - #5 - Lord Finland
Lord Finland made some big improvements third up for Luke Pepper when coming to this course last time out over the 1300m and he settled well back and wide there and was pushed even wide from the corner but I really like he found the line after shifting out on the track to start his run, clocking some great late splits and grabbing the minor placing there. He should be hard fit fourth up now, goes out to 1600m which looks positive given his run style and think he only goes well here.
