Friday Racing Tips - Sportsbet Pakenham Racecourse 10/11/23

Racing returns to the Sportsbet Pakenham for a big Friday meeting and we have eight races on the card for a share of $320k prize money in total with a few high level contests and the BM64 Brandt Pakenham John Deere being the feature of the day. There looks to be some progressive VIC and outer state stable runners and I am keen to see how they go so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots of the day at Pakenham.

BEST BET - #11 - Extremely Rowdy (BEST BET)
Extremely Rowdy is yet to miss the placegetters in two outings to kick off his career and I think that he looks well placed for the Gelagotis stable to go over here. He last stepped out at Kyneton where he was forced deep in the run and two wide before shifting out wider and hitting the line hard in the final 200m but was just overrun late by a smart winner to place second there. He draws well here, hard fit and I think only goes well here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Terminus
I think that Terminus has to be given a look here for the Price and Kent stable given how much respect the market is giving him. He is yet to start his career but has looked very sharp at a few jump outs to lead him into start one and the stable often doesn’t mess around with their debutants. Draws well, Mertens on, has to pose some danger.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Alletante
Alletante seems to have come back in very good order for the Brown stable and I think is a winning chance here at a big price. He resumed from a 22 week break at Moe over the 1100m where he ran very well off a long break, coming from 5 deep in the run to chase hard before just laying in a bit in the straight. He will be sure to improve off the back of that run and I think only runs well here.

BEST BET - #3 - War Frontier (NEXT BEST)
War Frontier takes on the top weight here but given that most of the key chances only meet him 1kg better at the weights I think that he is still as honest a chance as he has been recently. His two runs back from a long spell have both been winning ones and both of those wins have had a fair bit of merit. His last run saw him shift out very wide to find some clear air and power home to score well over the mile. He does look to relish a longer trip but staying at the mile shouldn’t pose any issues either.

THE DANGER - #4 - Impending Link
Impending Link seems to have come back in great order for the Eurell stable and I don’t think he will be slowing down now. His last run saw him resume here over the 1400m where he rolled along just behind the speed with no cover out wide before chasing up to hit the front at the 150m and found more than enough to keep them at bay. Smart horse, plenty of upside to come, keen to see how he goes here.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Top Honours
Top Honours has been flying this prep for the Keys stable and I don’t think he’s slowing down now. His last start saw him step out over this distance at Benalla where he trucked along the speed two wide without cover and shifted out wider on the turn to power home and win dominantly. Top chance here.

BEST BET - #4 - Rackemann
Rackemann is a smart horse for the Hayes boys that comes back to racing off of a 10 week break and I do think the short quote is justified here. His first two runs saw him run very close runner up placings before going away for a long spell and coming back to racing over the 1300m at Sandown where he sat on the leaders heels before drawing clear late and looking to have plenty of hand. The horse to beat here.

THE DANGER - #6 - Tapa Capall 
Tough horse for the Brideoake and Jenkins stable in Tapa Capall who has placed runner up in both of his fresh runs so far and I imagine will go well here fresh again in a winnable contest. His last run saw him in a strong Flemington 2000m race where he finished midfield behind some smart horses. He likely will be looking for longer than this but talent should carry him a long way here.

VALUE BET - #9 - Grey Northern (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Grey Northern is a smart horse for Simon Zahra and the stable rarely comes to this track without intent so I do think there will be something here for him. He went away a winner over the mile at this course on the synthetic and has won one from three fresh runs so clearly goes well with fresh legs. The booking of Mott signals intent so watch the market.
