Friday Racing Tips - Sunshine Coast Racecourse 03/03/23

Racing continues into Autumn at the Sunshine Coast off the back of an incredibly successful Summer up north throughout the Queensland Summer Racing Carnival and there is a seven race meeting featuring some nice types across both sprint and staying distances. There is a total of $222,000 prize money available across the card, the weather is forecasted to be clear with the track being a good 4 and the rail is in true position.

BEST BET - #1 - Tuscany Bound 
Tuscany Bound looks like the leading hope in this field, the McCall trained runner comes into this third up and she should really be finding form now after two previous outings at this track when not really getting the ground she desires, both runs being on softer tracks. Berman retains the ride which is a bonus and she maps for a soft run. I am keen to have something on.

THE DANGER - #5 - Easier Said 
Easier Said is really close to a win off the back of a smart second placing at Doomben last run where he really does look to be reaching peak fitness and exhibited a great running style. He now gets some weight relief into this and maps for a decent run, should be hard fit third up and I would be very surprised to not see him in the finish.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Seefeld (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Seefeld is another who comes into this and should be hard fit and ready to rock n roll fourth up. He placed at Doomben first up in similar company to this and looked like he would only improve off that but hasn’t been firing in his last two outings. However, the stable has given him some time to prepare for this and I think that they map quite well and he is genuine. My only query is the apprentice that hops on but he really should be in the finish.

BEST BET - #5 - Merseyside (NEXT BEST)
I am a very big fan of the O’Dea and Hoystead trained Merseyside and how can you not be. She has been thrilling to follow this campaign with two wins and two close placings and she gets another chance to go over on top again here. I like where she maps, to sit just off the speed and have a bit of cover and if she can get clear running the splits indicate that she will storm over the top of them. She’s hard fit and in form, Benny Thompson is aboard and that’s about all I need to have something on her on race day.

THE DANGER - #2 - Sammy 
Sammy is a genuine dry tracker who looks to be in great shape off the back of a smart win last time out at this track and trip when she really relished sitting on the speed to emerge in the last 400m and draw clear of them. The time reads quite well for this and her map isn’t too bad, I think it would be a crime to rule her out in this race.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Rose Of Duporth
Rose of Duporth is another who I can entertain as although she has seen quite a long prep she has been excellent of late, picking up back to back wins at this track before going to Doomben most recently where she was never really in the race to finish three lengths off the winner. She comes back to her home track now and she is fit, in form and loves it here on this ground. She will take beating.

Tony Gollan has barely been able to put a foot wrong this year and I think Rubunkar is an exemplary example of this. He resumed at this track and trip two weeks ago and did it tough out wide, sitting three wide with no cover all trip and still chasing bravely to end up second in that field. He maps for a much softer run now and his form ties in to Larrikin Rogue which is easily the best form for this.

THE DANGER - #17e - Isles Of Avalon 
Isles of Avalon showed a bit of talent last prep without winning but was sent back to the paddock last September when failing to fire as favourite and was then sold at the beginning of the year to David Vandyke and he seems to have this horse in right order to fire first up. He’s had just the two soft public trials to lead him into this and wow if he can replicate what he has been doing thus far I think he has a very good shot at winning this.

VALUE BET - #4 - Lost In Transit 
Lost In Transit is a locally trained Stuart Kennedy mare who is on debut here and he’s drawn the rails and should be in a position to receive every chance. There isn’t too much to go by here but the one public trial he has had is enough for me to follow, it was at this track on the inner when he trucked along to win that trial softly with plenty in hand.
