Friday Racing Tips - Tamworth Racecourse 26/04/24

Racing comes back to Tamworth Racecourse this Friday and we have a big eight race card as the Tamworth cup is upon us. There’s $525k in prize money on offer across the card with the Tamworth cup being the feature of the day. Follow me below as I pick out my most confident horse racing betting spots on the Friday Tamworth card!

BEST BET - #1 - Hellcibell (BEST BET)
Hellcibell has to lug the big weight here but I think that he has panels on his rivals and it won’t be enough to slow him down here. He’s won three and placed in the other two of his five career starts and now comes here off of a short break since winning at Scone at the end of March. He’s had a nice tick over trial between runs and gets the A1 jockey in Bullock for the ride.

THE DANGER - #4 - Not In Doubt
Not In Doubt looks the best of the locally trained here and I think is certainly worthy of respect here. He comes here hard fit third up and off the back of a win here at the beginning of the month where he was excellent over this trip. He’s undefeated at this track / trip combination and can replicate the success again.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Figment 
Figment is flying for the Morgan camp and has to be respected here chasing the hat trick. His two runs this time in have come since changing hands for the camp and resuming off of an 11 week break and he now gets here with a claim from Vitler who’s been with him all prep, hard fit and in great form. Go well here.

BEST BET - #10 - Lonhro's Queen (NEXT BEST)
I think that Lonhro’s Queen has come back outstandingly since changing hands from John O’Shea to Cameron Crockett and that he can certainly go on with it here. He had his first run off of a 25 week spell when debuting for the new camp at Mudgee back at the end of last month where he was just brilliant, finding the front easily and letting down with purpose to win well. That was first up over 1200m so I think that 1400m second up, with plenty of natural improvement only sees him go well here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Arctic Legend 
Obvious danger in the current running favourite for Cody Morgan who comes here having just his second career start since coming across from the Freedman’s and eighth overall career start. He resumed with a bang when stepping out at this course over the 1200m and taking over in the straight, powering away from them to win dominantly and now gets Bullock aboard, natural improvement and maps to get the right kind of run here.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Major Makeover
Major Makeover sees a similar career to that of the former two I have outlined, having been sold from one of the premiere trainers in Patrick Payne to Craig Clegg and I think that Clegg has him going well and he will only be stronger here third up. He’s had two runs back from a 17 week spell to kick things off for the stable and the most recent was a strong race at this trip at Scone where he was doing some very good work late to finish just behind the placegetters. Go well here.

BEST BET - #6 - Akasawa (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Not sure why Akasawa comes in at such a huge price here but I am keen on him regardless and think that he will be prominent all throughout the run here. He’s a beautiful horse that has four fresh wins from six runs, two wins and a runner up placing in six at this trip and a win in two runs at this course. He comes here having not raced since a $200k race at Rosehill back at the end of last year and has had an electric trial win at Scone in the interim to get him ready for this. Go well at a big price.

THE DANGER - #8 - Gringotts
Gringotts is quite the ways back in depth and should be awfully strong here for Ciaron Maher. He comes out of a sharp $160k race in Saturday grade at Rosehill at the end of last month where he made an impressive return to racing under Jmac off of a 20 week spell when winning brilliantly after finding the front at the 120m and jetting away. Gets in light with Morgan aboard and will be strong again undoubtedly with natural improvement second up.

VALUE BET - #5 - Overriding
I have always been a fan of Overriding for Nathan Doyle with this guy having won nearly half of his career starts and being placed in a further three from eleven. He comes here third up and definitely able to fire again after resuming in a Group three at Rosehill where he was far from disgraced before taking out a strong $150k race at Newcastle two weeks ago in fine fashion. Hard fit third up, stable is flying and I think he will be fine coming back 100m in trip.
